Just got the lcdi4 premium cable for the 20's. A nice upgrade from the stock cable.

Hi, very late to the party here, and these questions would no doubt have already been answered, but do they really reach their full potential via listening with Cipher cable, and is there a lot of noise leakage?
I'm considering the 20s or the SE846. Which is better?

Cheers.

As far as noise leakage, not very much due to the small diaphragm size and the 'semi-open' design. Much less than any full-size open headphone I've heard.
I get good sound using a basic EQ on my Mac but I don't have any of the plug-ins that others mention here, so from my point of view the Cipher cable is the way to go. I bought them portable use anyway so it's perfect for my particular usage

The only idevice I have is an old iPod touch, which won't last forever, and I'd rather not re-invest into the Apple ecosystem once it dies. So I'm gathering a basic eq is good enough? There was a similar issue with the full sized Sine headphones and I'm very happy with them via adequate amplification without the Cipher. Is this the same case with the isine?

Lots of folk are very happy without the Cipher cable and as I say, through iTunes on my Mac I can get them sounding pretty good with the 10-band EQ. If you have similar on a portable device I think they're fantastic.
The amount of EQ/DSP will be different on the iSines because it's down to the fact that they don't interact with your external ear but they do accept large EQs very well due to the extremely low distortion so you'll probably be fine with them.
Clearly though, best advice is to see if you can get to listen to a pair with and without the Cipher to make up your mind.

Old and also very subjective I'm afraid. Normal comments are the 20s sound a bit more expansive with a smoother mid-range/treble. In theory bass is identical, but as the impedance is slightly different it might also depend on what your driving them with.
No simple answers.

Are the 10's close enough to the 20's in sound quality? What are the differences? Old questions, I know, sorry about that.

I’ve owned both and can sum it up relatively simply (acknowledging, it’s entirely subjective)

The 10’s are an incredible value, especially when bought with the Cipher cable. Overall, they were the most appealing, versatile sound signature that I had experienced. I loved them so much I upgraded to the 20s.

While the 20s are noticeably superior when heard side by side (namely width of soundstage, low midrange, bass and sub bass separation) I hardly think anyone would be disappointed with the 10s. Are they worth the additional cost? For me they were, solely because they’re a modestly improved version of something I already knew I loved.

My suggestion to others has been: try the 10s with the Cipher. If you’re as impressed as many here have been, the 20s aren’t going anywhere, and the 10s are easily resold.

Hope that helps.
