haha wow! You really didn't like them... sorry to laugh but I haven't seen anyone HATE them. Maybe not be their sound sig. What was it specifically that upset you? I feel like Audeze created something that was unique and other companies will try to duplicate.

The iSine is not for everyone. I defintely won't listen to the 20 without cipher or EQ.

yeah its really a niche set. wouldn't blame anyone if they didn't like it. I didn't like them when I first put them on. You have to jump through hoops to make these things sound good and many are not willing to go through those lengths.

eq? ipod/iphone? cipher cable? whats all this nonsense.... if didn't already have and use those things, i would say "**** these things too".

but, if you are willing to go the length, you will have one of the best experiences coming from iem. Sound wise...

I will avoid it if I don't have to. The good thing thing is the iSine sound very good given the FR corrections that suits individual taste. Now my iPod(rockbox) suddenly becomes my daily driver :L3000:

The isine is clearly not for eveyone. But for it to feel one with rage seemed really far off of the norm.
The rage is understandable. For the price of the iSines and listen to it with a standard cable using your couple-thousand buck DAP for the first time, many would not help but curse on it. In my opinion it sounded like a cheap earbud. But then correcting it with the DSP/EQ boosted the EQ towards something unique in this package.

The term "night and day difference" is appropriate in this case. Audeze should have put this information at least in the manual. I bet a few audiophiles who are not aware about it have already made a firm opinion that is not favorable.

Unfortunately, mine is not the cipher cable version. What EQ software works best? Please recommend me EQ setting to rid of the hollow sound, and if it works well, I will have to apologize. :smile_phones:

I like my mids, and if it's hollow, I get upset. :L3000:

It's intentional, my goal is to attenuate the 500Hz to 2Khz area and lift 2.5Khz to 9Khz. Then attenuate the rest from 10Khz. I find the Q factor of 1 in LPG not narrow enough that is why I have the center frequency that high. It is a bit brighter and energetic in high treble than normal and may not be enjoyable to many. So I have this variation with the narrowest Q factor and the center freq. at 6Khz. Just trying to avoid lifting 2Khz and down

FilterGroupGain
-15dB
Filter1
150.0Hz/+6dB/LSF/0.2
Filter2
1000Hz/-9dB/BPF/1.0
Filter3
6000Hz/+12dB/BPF/1.0
Filter4
8000Hz/+6dB/BPF/0.8
Filter5
9500Hz/-12dB/HSF/0.2

I tried to recreate this EQ in EqualizerApo for windows but some of the filters don't let me adjust the gain. Anyone know what the issue is? Trying to test and find a good EQ as the stock 3.5mm sound is very underwhelming. Any help would be appreciated.

You can start from this post. 3 EQ settings which Audeze suggested to get as close as possible to the cipher.

I only use the EQ in LPG and rockbox. My current EQ settings is quite different from the link above which is my personal preference.

Have an EQ preset for japanese vocals and aggressive/upfront mids for Equalizer APO. I find this setting very reminiscent to an ER4S. My source is an ODAC/O2 (Muses02 opamp).

iSine10's using Onkyo HiFi Player on 6s Plus and one of the Onkyo EQ Presets tweaked to my audio tastes are a sound revelation!!! Great sound clarity, detail, soundstage, separation of instruments and vocals, and they sound more like over the ear rather than IEM's,...luv 'em!

I was using just the plain cable plugged into a Centrance DACPortable and playing 24-bit, 96&192kHz files.

Are you using the cipher or the standard 3.5mm cable?

Hi,
When I tried iSine 20 I used my Sony Xperia5 . I am not planning to use it outdoor. At present I am using with my notebook + Audio GD Dac19 mk3 + C2C. I also tried with my bedroom set notebook + Geek Out Iem100. The result is much the same
that mid is a little too much for me. Since I just had this iem for a short time I cannot comment much and do not know how long it needs for burn in. I am not sure to call this iem a mid-centric or not? On the vocal songs the singer sounded very nice
sweet, smooth, but for other genre I found mid is too much. This is what I found so far. I do not know if this will help you or not. Oh...mid sounds like iSine series not LCD series in my opinion.

Prior to this I was considering between Ibasso iT03. I got iT03 first then I decide to get iSine 20 later

Thanks indeed for those impressions.

Cheers
