ATTICUS and EIKON, the new dynamic driver headphones from ZMF

With such a limited amount of units I'd be very surprised if someone actually owns both the original as well as the "Eikon Classic" to do a comparison. I think @OnlySoMany owns both but he goes through so many units it's hard to keep track.
I don't go through units! 😲 I keep them all!

I actually do not own an original Eikon or Classic. I was going to get a set during this release to compare them, but there were only a few sets available and I didn't want to take a set away from someone who was really looking forward to them. I only have the Autuer Classic and Atticus in a few different finishes. I may pick up a set during a spring or summer release. The main issue is that my summer funds are normally dedicated to track/racing hobbies and not as much on audio. Both are incredibly expensive hobbies.

I was fortunate to get one of the Eikons from the ZMF November (December) event for 2023. It has the Auteur Classic driver, which I confirmed with ZMF. This is stabilized maple burl, and the lone B-Stock Eikon (which looks like A-Stock).

I don't have much to add that hasn't already said about the Eikon... It slams so hard, and is a bass head's dream for rock, electronic, rap/hip-hop, whatever. But it also does sound great with vocal and Classical too. I tried out Goldberg Variations (Glenn Gould), Chanticleer a cappella vocal music, and some symphonic music just to see what it can do. Eikon really is versatile, with great timbre and very musical midrange. Resolution is very good, though not at Verite Open or Utopia level. It sounds great with DSHA-3FN amp and Yggy OG.

I'm loving it, what a headphone! :gs1000smile:

That's a beautiful headphone.

Sometimes I really miss my padauk Eikon. That headphone was simply gorgeous to look at, and the sound fully equaled the looks. It nailed the sound with every genre I threw at it.

Truly amazing cans have been coming from Chicago these past months, with many more to come it seems! Thanks to you and all the team for bringing such artistry to this hobby and adding to the magic!

Hey thanks!

We have a decent stable of MonkeyPod - so likely we will do a run of these through the summer or so.

The Eikon(ic) looks beautiful. But where would it fit in a collection that already has the Atrium Closed? Anything unique, different, or better about the Eikon(ic) versus the AC to warrant a spot in the lineup?
IMO the AC replaces the Eikon, they're so similar. They don't sound exactly the same, the Eikon has a slighly peakier treble region that isn't as smooth or fatigue free as the AC. And the bass isn't quite as articulate as the AC. But Overall they share a very similar house sound. Don't forget the Bokeh as well, as it's sonically very very similar to the AC but priced like the Eikon. And IMO is the best place to start your ZMF journey unless you really really want a particular model. The Eikon still rocks though, if you're thinking of getting one I wouldn't stress about moving up the cost ladder to the AC. But do beware the Bokeh, it's really good.
