I bought my ES7s from buydig. Everything is straight on them except there isn't any recycle logo. I did a lot of research on legitimate ES7s before buying and after receiving though, and these seem like the real deal. I do wonder why my pair doesn't have the recycle.

I can't say, but $89 US (BuyDig's selling price) seems quite low to me..

I just noticed my ES7 also doesn't have the recycle logo. Maybe Audio-Technica has produced different versions of the ES7. Mine's are probably a very old version: I've got the old, black box and the older plug (the newer es7 have ridged plugs, mine's smooth).

Not sure about the plug. My ES7, according to the box, have been manufactured in 10-2008 yet they have a smooth plug too... Maybe they bought a big batch of both and just kept on switching

Hmm, could be possible

I checked audiocubes and they have a picture of the es7 with a ridged plug, so I assumed all the newer versions had one. Where's the date on the box? I can't find it, but I think they were made in 2005.

Mine was on the back of the box, next to the UPC code :

The back of my box isn't the same. Oh well, at least the code below your date is the same: 1323-06690B. Oh wait, it isn't the same. Oh well

I can't find the date, but when I received my ES7, i think I've read it, somewhere on the box. I only vaguely remember 2005.

So is it safe to say that the ES7 without the recycle logo are real?

If everything else looks legit, I wouldn't worry too much about it, it might just be a new regulation that took effect recently in AT's recycling program.

I have just ended up with (purchased them thinking they were the real deal) what appears to be an identical set of fakes. Just a couple of extra points regarding them. The lead is long (claims to be 1.2m, but it is more like 6 feet, or 1.8m, just by comparing it to my height). The box has no audio-technica contact details on it, and no warranty details either (nor in the box). The head band feels squishy, and if you look carefully on the side of the chrome (where it is brushed metal on the real units), you will see some moulding marks (which makes me think it is a plastic casing). Sound quality, a lot less bass, and the highs were harsh and distorted (compared to an authentic set of ath-es7's, but this was from listening to the authentic item with only one side working, and me not being the worlds most critical listener, just know what I like).
As for where it was purchased from, it was ebay (I really should have known better).

Sorry about your misfortune with the ES7 from yet another fraudulent eBay seller. Thanks for sharing your experience, that hopefully will prevent more of these fakes from being sold!

No problem, hopefully before too much longer ebay will start paying some attention. It appears like it is going to be sorted without any problems however (after playing some email tag, he stated that he will refund the purchase price + 2x shipping, so that I can return the item to him). Not the ideal situation (I would have personally preferred to see them destroyed). So now time to shell out the extra bit, and go buy a real set, from a real shop, in the real world (tm).

i hav a question please,

i noticed that on different websites they have different pictures of the ATH-ES7.

for example:
Audio Technica ATH-ES7-BK Portable Headphones - Black in Corded Headphones at JR.com

those are apparently black? they look a bit silver

but then look at these:
Audio-Technica ATH-ES7 Portable Headphones - Apple Store (U.S.)

those look like the real black ones
how come there so much more $$ too?

im not saying that the one at jr.com is fake but it does look different doesnt it?

im guessing its just the picture

can any1 clear this up for me?
