ive read a few posts on here , regarding the sound quality and I will see about returning this unit , should not be getting that hot when playing standard flac filesI didn’t see anybody else say the quality dropped and if your SR 15 is too hot to hold anytime - you need a new unit.
Mine has only gotten warm at most.

About the sound quality getting worse after a firmware upgrade? I’d like to read those posts. And of course if anything is getting too hot to hold I’d say something is wrong regardless.
Hi all. Have any of you been able to install apps that do not appear as compatible in open APP? If so, what could you install with good results?

quick comment on firmware update and impact to SQ. Prior to the new firmware update my comfortable listening volume was around 70-75. uncomfortable was over 85. since i have updated the firmware the volume seems lower. Now my comfortable listening level is around 85-90 and uncomfortable is over 100. sounds a bit timid...obviously these are completely subjective views but its dented my spirits a bit

Very interesting, I’m still listening at the exact same volume I have been and I notice no change in volume output.
I’ve been using SE out lately. Maybe AK can shed some light on this? You’re the second person who said it was worse. I also compared it to my other daps for reference and it sounds pretty much the same to me and better than both.
Then again sonic memory is very short.

Did anyone here experienced loss of sound on one of the channels? (Mine stopped working on the SE right side after around 40 days)

Eh scratch that. Now I think it's a transcoding thing.

went back to my local store, they said A&K still have them on a waiting list and that they'll know in about a month if they're approved to continue to receive and sell A&K products :/

Would it be cheaper for someone in the states to buy it for you and ship it? Or would custom fees kill it?
I've looked into that by wanting to buy it from amazon US and and have it shipped to me in canada, but the custom fees and shipping is crazy. my only choice would be to either wait, or maybe get something else from a different brand which is a shame.Would it be cheaper for someone in the states to buy it for you and ship it? Man that sucks, I just compared it to the Shanling M5s which is nice, but the sound is just clearer and more detailed on the SR15. And the UI is better and the build quality is better.
Battery life is better on the Shanling though.
I’m burning in the Shanling to see if the sound perks up- but it’s acting funny right now.
Pics for size comparison
The SR15 is such a cute player, i love its leaning look and i just like its smooth angular design. im a bit tired of the whole "ipod" look that a lot of Chinese manufacturers use for their DAPs. i want something strikingly visually diffirent which is why i like A&Ks design for their DAPs. but im also considering the Sony WM1A DAP its very visually different from everyone else but... its also more expensive :S

It’s the perfect size imo, Sony 1A is really nice but too big and heavy for me
Joybuy has zx300A for 379 us. That’s really a good deal if you can live with 16 gig onboard and slow shipping.
You’d think AK would be all over Canada- I mean what else is there to do up there but drink and listen to tunes ha ha.
I jest of course Rush and trailer park boys alone elevate Canada to God like status.
