Try using this site to see if there is enough power, it is a fairly accurate reference tool:

the problem is A&K dont give proper measurements for their output load for unbalanced and balanced.
they just say:
"Unbalanced 2.0Vrms and Balanced 4.0Vrms (Condition no load.)"
which to me means not a whole lot :S kinda makes it difficult to assume what it can power.

Someone in this thread already said that SR15 is best used with UIEMs or CIEMs with low ohms. KANN is the one that can handle the cans especially your BeyerDyndmic DT1990 pro. Please double check!

Hello dear folks, this is my first post here, so thanks for having me to everyone .

I own the Sr15 for 8 Weeks now and I simply love that DAP. I am coming from the Fiio X5 III and mostly changed to A&K due to the X5´s badly screwed up actual software.
Some people are worried about the SR15´s power, my experience till now is, yes .... the FiiO X5 III hast a LOT of more power and even turbo-mode, BUT the Sr15 delivers enough power for my headphones though:
I have the HD660s, running them at 65-105 (max!!!) and the Ultrasone Edition M Plus (55-85 max), both connected balanced, both sounding just perfect and still some resources available.
And the Sr15 again gives me that nice grin and thrill on old tracks, on which the X5 III did not after 2 years!

Battery drain of the Sr15: I came to my conclusion, that round about 10% of the battery get drained in 1 hr, which leads to 9-10 hrs batterytime when listening to SD-card-tracks without playing arround too much with device, very similar to the FiiO X5 III.

But I also have one big question, how do you know when the Sr15 is fully charged, when it is powered off ? On my device it shows a charging screen and the display shuts down after few seconds, but I am not able to turn the display on again by simply pressing the power button or any other button to check loading status like you might be used from other Daps like the FiiO. As the Sr15 has no quick-charge-ability (as far as I know) it would be very usefull to check that without having to start the device.

Regards,
Andreas

I'm selling my FiiO X5 Gen 3 today and with the money im going to either buy a Norma SR15 for the same reasons. bad software support, buggy interface and lack luster sound.
I want to get the SR15 but the only fear i have is that it wont run my headphones. yes i use 2 portable headphones H6 Gen 2 and B&W P7 wired. which i know the SR15 can drive. but i would like to know if it can also drive my DT1990 Pro. im not sure how power hungry the HD660S are but if they are anything similar to my DT1990 pros then i'll be happy. :)

i'm not gonna buy into the ibasso DAPs. i think the Astell and kern players are physically nicer to look at and i prefer the way the OS looks also. and from what i've heard, ibasso has terrible software and firmware support. one of the reasons im switching to A&K from FiiO is because i hear AK has great software and firmware support.

I pair it with a DT1770PRO 250 Ohm and the SR15 drives easily. Although, I haven't tried with the DT1990 yet...

i've tried a pair of DT1770 pros before i ended up buying the 1990pros. they're pretty similar in power consumption. so thats good news to me. thank you very much sir :)

i checked the KANN and the SR15, they both have 2.0Vrms unloaded for the 3.5mm plug. which means even though people say the KANN can power headphones, its basically the same output for 3.5 unbalanced :/

So people seem to be having issues with getting the USB DAC function to work. My question for those that have it working: is there any lag on the audio? I.e. can you watch videos with it alright?

Also, does anyone have comparisons with the Sony ZX300?

2.0Vrms for 3.5mm on Normal Gain, 4Vrms for 3.5mm on High Gain mode for KANN

Hi Jason, can you confirm that the SR15 can also support headphones, not just IEMs. And what recommended ohm limit would the SR15 support? 16 - 150 ohm?

We've easily driven 300 ohm headphones with the SR15. We would recommend using the balanced output for those since it has twice the power output of the 3.5mm. The DT1990 Pro are 250 ohms, so it should not be an issue driving them.
