Astell&Kern SA700 - Past meets Present
Apr 22, 2021 at 10:18 PM Post #571 of 705
SA700 has already been updated with most of the latest new features improvement since fall last year. The recent firmware update for the other models is just A&K playing catch up to add the same features for these older models (SR15, SP1000, SE100, etc.) and Roon support for SP1000/SP2000.

There hasn’t been any firmware update to fix usability issues of SA700 for a while already and likely is not going to happen. Issues such as slow ui performance, battery drain issue, etc. are likely due to hardware limitations/flaws and not fixable by firmware. I’m hopeful but I won’t count on it.

well .... I quess we don't deserve attention
no answer is the answer

I read on another thread from @JasonNYC that firmware for all A&K daps is coming to address the change in the embedded Tidal app and perhaps for other bug fix issues.

Quick update on firmware update to fix the embedded Tidal app.

Still on target for this month, but I still do not have a concrete release date. I was told last night there would be more info at the end of the week.

The following 13 models will receive firmware updates to fix the embedded Tidal issue in May:

SP2000, SP1000, SP1000M, SE200, SE180, SE100, KANN ALPHA, SR25, SA700, KANN CUBE, SR15, ACTIVO CT15, ACTIVO CT10.

The AK Connect app for iOS and Android will also be updated to fix the embedded Tidal issue. The updated apps will be available in the Apple and Google app stores after the player updates.

Update on Tidal app:

Thank you for your patience over the last month as Astell&Kern’s engineering and software development teams have been working hard to implement updates to the embedded Tidal app. As this is third-party software that needs to be integrated into more than a dozen different players, it has taken a bit of time to complete and test the updated firmware.

The new firmware is in the final stages of review by our partners and should be available within the next week or two once validated. We will begin rolling out the updated firmware model by model, so we ask that you please be patient as you wait for your model to receive the update. Please follow our social media pages, your regional dealers and distributors for additional updates on the firmware release.

More information can be found here - https://www.astellnkern.com/eng/con...ew.asp?search=&word=&idx=1000718&page=1&no=55

Thank you again for being part of the Astell&Kern family.

We updated multiple players in the US office here without issue. Updates get pushed out region by region, but all regions should have the update available now.

I would recommend trying one of two things:

1. Soft reset - While the player is on, press and hold the power button down for about 10 - 12 seconds until it shuts off. Press the power button again to turn on.
2. Settings Reset - this will return all settings to default, but WILL NOT erase any files on the player. You will lose any installed OpenApp apps and any offline content, so I recommend trying the soft reset first. With the settings reset, the player will also need to rescan and index all the files on the player, which could take up to 15 - 20 minutes depending on how many files you have.

Thank you for the guidance, Jason. Will try that. I did a factory reset earlier today but that didn’t work (Library on sdcard which I removed first). I’m in Belgium so considered regional roll out delays.
