It depends on your music taste. 90% of my music are jazz records from ECM and ACT labels and I claim this issue affects all tracks with piano parts. Like defective pixels on LCD — very annoying and they will drive you mad one day. As I mentioned in the original post, I have tons of examples tested on SP2000 Cu with Sony IER-Z1R. Thereby this issue is not connected with the recording quality.
I suppose there should be IEMs with some kind of resistance to this bug but I have no plans to swap IER-Z1R or Dita XLS. And this issue is the last thing I expect from the 3.5K bucks DAP.

This is interesting, and I may have an idea as of why but I will just “observe”

I have matte screen protectors on the way as i saw some guy on insta using them.
Sometimes i find minimum screen brightness still too brightat so it should help reduce it and also stop finger prints showing so much.
But clearpex looks interesting.

99% chance of having this issue on your device. It was spotted with 1.10, 1.16, 1.18 firmware. I tried Sony IER-Z1R, Dita XLS, QDC Anole VX with 3 different devices (2SS and 1CU) and this issue was evident. With Cayin N8 or SP1000 the same albums played without any audible drawbacks.

What IEMs you tried and at what volume level? What tracks?

This issue affects only SP2000. On my AK240SS or SP1000 everything is fine.

I also have a Clearplex protector on my iPhone for a year and a half now and it’s still impeccable. The website just tells you what’s stored in there database.
(Search for SP2000)

And if the protector for your device isn’t available yet, you can make a request for it to be added, like I did for the SP2K front- and backside.
Don’t know if it’s possible to purchase this protector on the internet. I went to the retailer “MediaMarkt” and got it done for €20,- that’s about $22,-


Still doubting whether or not to go back for a backside protection, this because I carry my 2K SS always in a Dignis case, whom imho makes the perfect case for any device. Bought the Patina Brown but I'm also eyeballing the a Green Patina version when it's back in stock
