I think I know where we are getting the wires crossed. Language. I can say A is better or the best, but it is not to my liking or preference or taste, and so I don't like it. That's fine. But you cannot deny that A is not better or the best. I have the 300MaxTi and also the SP2K. I happen to think the 3MaxTi is better than the SP2K in terms of resolution, mostly details, especially if you listened carefully to what is in the background, separation/layering when playing complicated pieces -- could be due to the better amp and if I wanted to line-out, the SP2K just fall off the table without a true line out!

Does it make me like the SP2K less?

No.

I still listen to it for some occasion and thoroughly enjoy it.

But if you prefer the SP2K more than the 3Max ALL THE TIME, that's fine too. I am offering you my point of view, and then I substantiate with how I have arrived at that conclusion. You could think about it, try it out, and then accept or refute it. I respect that. Better, tell me why you disagree and if I, in turn, think about it, try it out, and if I come to accept it, then I appreciate it even more because I have learnt something.

100% agree, opinions of others are equally valid and legit, with this I don't mean that other daps are crap, there are many awsome sounding daps, the thing is IMO the sp2000 sits among the very best, and this being truth even after almost 3 years after the release, is something special

I guess unintended consequences will at least (possibly) extend support for this particular model. Not so true on my 4 year old SR15 with Android 5 aging issues.

Firmware update V. 1.50 is now available for the SP2000. This update contains a number of stability improvements as well as bug fixes. Some of the bigger fixes include:

1. Wi-Fi stability improvements when using streaming services, including fix for random disconnection issues
2. BT connection improvements
3. Fix for connectivity issues when using M1 processor-based Macs

We tried on 3 different SP2000 here connecting to a 2021 M1 MacBook Pro running MacOS Monterey and all three did not connect before update and are recognized and connect now after the update.

I would suggest trying a soft reset and then trying again. To perform a soft reset, when the player is on, press and hold the power button down for 10 - 12 seconds until the player shuts off. Press the power button on again to restart.

Would also suggest trying a different USB C to USB C cable if you have one.

After the update, I can now connect my SP2000 to my Mac Studio, but needed to work through my USB-C to USB-C cables before I could find one that worked. Any plans for A&K to relase their own cable?

No, you still need Android File Transfer because Apple does not include native Android drivers in MacOS.
