Just give in, no use to fight, you have lost before the fight even get started. The final nail in the coffin is that first listen. You still have some desire to fight right now, but after that first listen, the 2k is all you can think of. You heard it from me here first, you will hate yourself for not putting your name on the preorder list and everyday you wait you suffer. Most of my friends that have heard the 2k have sold their dap in preparation for the 2k. I didn’t think I will come back to AK after 3 years of hiatus. I was all set to buy the Cube at Can Jam SoCal, take only 10 minutes on the 2k to change my mind.

I preordered the sp2000 copper in end of June before the pre-launch event held in my country.

At the pre-launch event, out of the 3 products I was most impressed by the sound from the sp2000 copper. Compared to my sp1000 copper, the sp2000 mids are more forward sounding but the treble is smoother. I heard the sp1000 amp attachment but was not impressed as I already have other amps like mass kobo 404 that can do the same job or even better.

I managed to sell off my sp1000 2 weeks ago.

The sp2000ss did have the sweet clarity in its sound signature compared to my sp1000cu. However, the sp2000cu to me is like a new level from the sp1000cu. It sounded holographic.

I ordered the silver cause I thought the copper looked cheesy. I just assumed they were the same sonically and it was purely cosmetic. Are they really MEANT to sound different or is this just the disease thing in us audiophiles acting up?

No right or wrong on this.
My friend who owns a sp1000ss decided to stick with his present unit after the event.
His preference was to the sp2000cu compared to the sp2000ss though.

Yeah besides using different letters and different metals used for the case.

I do hear a difference between the 2 during the initial release of sp1000. To me the ss is slightly more aggressive sounding.
As to whether it is a material or a software tweak for the difference, I wish to know too.
