I actually really liked the Stellia from a short demo, but felt sp2000 drove them 85% of their potential compared to amp'd.
Well compared to a earbud yeah.

Can’t comment about the D8000 and DMP Z1, but the DMP Z1 drives hd800s just fine and has 1,500mW per channel on balanced out, high-gain. However, the 3.5mm output and high gain only has 570mW per channel. There is a real different in power from them

Sorry, thought I had responded about the volume control. Our dev team working on implementing some new volume control settings for a future software update. I'm not sure if it will make the next firmware update in February as there are a number of UI and setting changes that need to be implemented.

Thank you Jason, this will be appreciated by a lot of users and also my ears :relaxed:. Less liability for Astell and Kern too i presume.
Regards.

Hi Jason,
I am currently using SP1000 with the lasted firmware, and I enjoy it so much. However, recently I purchased some DSD256 albums, and it seems that whenever I play any of the songs, there is always an annoying noise at the very beginning. It’s hard to describe but it only exists when I switch between a normal PCM file to another dad file. The noise sounds horrible, lasts 1 second like air pressure being applied to my ear, and makes me hesitate every time I decide to play a DSD file. The album that generates the loudest noise is 8 ensembles in 1 bit from NativeDSD, though I highly doubt that it is the issue related to the player software itself.

Also, if I keep playing dsd files there is no issue, but it surfaces every time when I switch between a pcm and dsd, and only occurs when I play dsd files. Please kindly let the dev team look into this problem since my friends also have the same issue with their sp1000.

update: it only exists when I play dsd256 files, but i can also sense it when I play any dsd albums but with a much lower volume level, but can be ignored. I doubt that the higher the sample rate it is, the louder it gets. If I got a chance to try sp2000 at nyc canjam next month, I will also try and see if sp2000 has the same issue.

also, it seems that paw gold touch also has this issue, so maybe it is related to AKM chips? The dsd interface in the chip? Or is it a switch noise generated when processing dsd files?

Thanks!
