I have a jr. and sometimes pair it with an Oriolus oak 10 tube amp. I use Sennheiser HD800S and Campfire Audio Vega, sounds greatI love my ak jr. For an upgrade I recommend the Ibasso dx200. It is around $850. You can’t beat the sound for the price. The amps are interchangeable also. Great dac.

Realize this is dated but Im looking for great sound quality and could never afford more advanced Astel kern players. How is the sound quality of the junior when compared to the newer Fiio M6 or M7 and even the new M11.

The AK Jr. is probably the only player that I genuinely miss. The size and the sound quality were miles ahead of the curve when the Jr came out, and I still think it sounds far more organic than a lot of modern players. Just a shame that the UI never quite got as slick as it could have been.
If you feel like an upgrade, the AK300 is a bit of an unsung hero. Never sure why its largely forgotten compared to the AK320 and AK380

Hi guys, how is AK Junior compare with HIFIMAN Mega Mini, I mean sound? for listening I am use Sennheiser IE80 S and Sennheiser Hd598.Also I have Sony NW-A35,just my opinion HIFIMAN Mega Mini sound much better than Sony, without any Equalizers.Mega Mini has not bright and harsh sound ,also not crispy. There is no equalizer or any other sound improvement. Thanks in advance.

Hi guys, I’m wondering if it’s possible to plug an external dac to the Ak Jr? I just got a Fiio Q1 mkii recently, and it sounds very clean. Would like to plug it into the Ak Jr, but I just want to make sure it is usable before buying a cable.

The jr can work as a usb dac, but cannot do digital out, if that is what you want to do.

Thank you very much! I think it's time for a new dap then...

Great all around source for its price mostly because of the light weight. Don't expect too much from functionality/connectivity options.

Hi guys, I dropped my old AK Jr a few days ago and the back glass has a crack now. Do you know if I can find a replacement for it anywhere? Thanks for your help!
Hi, I just purchased the AK Jr, but the volume is kinda quite, like I have to turn up to 36 to properly enjoy the music.
with my old shanling m3s, I only need 28.
Is that a problem?

Shouldnt be a problem at all. Different players have different volume sweet spots with different headphones.
I think it mostly depends on what headphones or IEMs you're driving and what you're listening to. I remember having the volume on my Jr around 70-ish. I run my AK300 on about 75. There are a couple of albums i have that are mastered so quietly that i have to turn whatever im listening on up by about 5!
Thanks, got it for about 76$ (used) and I am now enjoying it.Shouldnt be a problem at all. Different players have different volume sweet spots with different headphones.

The sound stage is wider and more bass conpared to the shanlings. Combined with my Grado 125e and they sound awesome for the price.
Anyone got any problems with battery life? it feels like the stand by function or sleep function doesn't work for me. It drains the battery as if it was on continuous usage.

The Jr is now sold for 155$, seem like a great price for 500$ player. I got mine a year ago and love it.
