I have had problems with AFT.  I found that you really have to use the cable that comes with the AK.

You should always use the AK USB cable for Data transfers.  I have a different cable for charging.

If you listen by your heart, without any prejudice of what you currently own, you will find that AK380Cu is the true gem among all DAPs. Simply the best. The advance from AK380 to AK380Cu is far far greater than from AK240 over AK380. Try to do a blind test if you don't believe. You'll be amazed.

Indeed. As I mentioned in an earlier post, my ripper won't work consistently unless I use the cable that came with it to connect to my 380. Using the original cable it works 100% of the time.

My theory is that the OEM cable connector is what makes it work 100% and not the wire in the cable. The AK designs have a unibody construction for the USB port opening and some generic cables fit pretty loose from my experience.

I guess the next "true gem" will be AK's new flagship. Then, the gap from the AK380cu to the new flagship will be bigger than the gap between the AK380 and the cu.

Has anyone purchased the 380SS? I'm interested in how much better it sounds over a stock 380, or the 380cu.

I own a 240SS and I'm considering the 380SS. Are there any peculiar issues with the 380 in general? For instance, the 240 is known to have a problem with the volume knob getting skittish over time. Not all, but enough where many owners have posted the exact same weird behavior. My first 240 had this problem.

I haven't followed the 380 thread since I was very happy with my 240SS, but now that there's a 380SS, I just want to make sure there aren't any problems with the design.

" There is and will be (for ever) something (high) in the cu, which can't be found in any other AK, DAP. I mean the SQ.
But that plus is compensated with the cover cooper which is not easy to keep in time.
Cu will remain the TOP of all : currents and coming DAPs. those who have the cu should keep it, if the SQ is what is important to them. "
