Its not a fair comparison, but for portable player SP3000 is great if you're into laidback sound with top technical capability.

No I haven't pair with headphones, as I only have 1266 TC right now.

I also have a very fast boot time, which was one of my concerns based on initial feedback. It’s probably 30 seconds between power on and playback through Spotify. I’ll time it later.

I just put my (nearly full) 1TB card into my new SP3000 from another A&K DAP, and the player just started scanning the card and loading the tunes…all depends how your card is formatted, I believe it has to be FAT32 for the SP3000 to read it. Or go into the system settings and “Initialize Media Scan”.

I love how A&K make such beautiful daps with incredibly materials and then we all hide them under a condom which prevents us (me included) to enjoy their beauty and construction at their best.... still I'm to scared of denting or scratching it!

Not quite as warm as the 1ZM2 but the treble on SP3K sounds smoother, more refined and is even more detailed than 1ZM2. The detail retrieval on SP3K is amazing. Both great DAPs but I think SP3K sounds a little bit better to my ears.

It’s been quite a while since I heard SP2000 but from memory, 1ZM2 is also warmer than SP2K with a little more emphasised bass and treble. SP2K I remember also being very smooth like SP3K with more forward mids/vocals

Hello. Do you think upgrade from sp2k to 3k worth it? I only care about sound quality, nothing else (speed, GUI, etc doesnt matter). Is there anything sp2k do better than sp3k? I know the question is stupid.. but maybe )) I only get my sp2k 5 month ago and totally in love with it - so I am afraid to change. But most of reviews say sp3k sounds better and its a good upgrade. Thanks in advance

Hard for me to say because it’s been a while since I sold the SP2K, but my general feeling is that SP3K is a wholesale upgrade on SP2K for sound quality. Blacker background, more detailed, more refined. Tonally I think SP3K has a slightly bassier, musical sound but again it’s hard to say with any certainty without hearing them side-by-side.

I had a friends SP2KT unit briefly last week so I got to compare it directly with SP3K, and it was obvious to me that SP3K was on another level sonically, and that was when SP3K only had a few hours use. I remember when I compared SP2K with SP2KT and I also thought SP2K sounded better than SP2KT at that time, but the gap wasn’t as big as it was between SP3K and SP2KT.
