Took a while but the DT177x go is here. Just finished my cable and I'll take a picture tomorrow with a bit more light. Soldering the cables in the 4 pin mini xlr connector is making me question my sight; combined with low light it surely took a while, haha.
With the leather pads out of a Audio-gd Master-19 these sound like the tamed DT1770 I hoped for. The front-facing dampening they introduced with the Amiron wireless and which they also use on the Tygr-r300 is a major contributor to their tamed highs. The DT1770 was/is one of my favourite Beyerdynamics and with these 2 tweaks (dampening and 4pin connector) I think the DT177x go might just be my new favourite Beyerdynamic bar none.

Still a night picture, lol forgot all about it :)
It's a 2.5m neotech upocc cable I still had laying around. Re-terminated using a rather cheap mini-xlr 4pole plug. I find it to be bit better in handling then the stock cable or any of those braided cables.

If someone from Europe is still searching for these cables I might be able to make you a cable as well!

I've been curious about the DT177x GO for sometime. I currently have the T5p (2nd version) with Dekoni hybrid sheepskin pads. How would the DT177x go compare?

My Custom Hart Audio cable came in...I ordered with 9" of cable to right angle 2.5mm TRRS balanced plug.
I would add 1/2" to 91/2" if going balanced and you want to have the cable orientation in first two shots. A little tight.
I am using orientation in the 3rd image.

A little heavier but really cool to be untethered around the house and at the desk with these!
(Hart Audio Cables was great with my non-standard request...)

I just ordered the 177x Go and have an ES100 I planned to use with it. This setup look fantastic. How is it holding up? How much was the custom build from Hart?

Excellent! It is holding up very well...

The ES100 fits perfectly in the balanced jack with the second cable I got (a little longer). I don't remember what the custom build cost but I thought it was very reasonable and he was great to work with.

Just a reminder: you have some tuning options with the different pads in case you want warmer/bassier (sheepskin) or more neutral (velour). I use the sheepskin pads even though they are just a touch warmer than I usually like because they are so darn comfortable (good-looking too).

Cheers!

I'm definitely going to do some pad rolling. Zeos recommended these in his review. I was on the fence about the 177x, but when I saw Drop had them for $350 I decided to pull the trigger. If I don't like them, I'll sell them. Again, thanks for the tip on the Hart cable.

Hi I'm very interested in these headphones and was just wondering if they would work well with a Dragonfly Cobalt? I was keen on getting the Cobalt so I could use it with more portable stuff but it would be awesome if it would work with the 177x so I didn't have to buy two amps. Thank you for the response.

I successfully put a Turbulent Labs leather headband made to replace the DT 770/880/990 headband on a pair of 177x. Not much effort just, unscrew, disassemble, remove old headband, attach new & nimbly reassemble. Wish I'd have gotten the Teal or Camel but I'll take it. Fits perfectly!

The original headband is relatively easy to reattach.

Were these a special sale for $350? Right now they are $450.

Wondering if is just the normal COVID price gouging or if it is something different. I get transportation costs but, headphones aren't that heavy or bulky.

I got mine for $349 on sale. They might do it again just keep an eye out for it.

Got mine on the initial drop, and haven't regretted it.

Right now, hearing them with some smooth jazz from my Gumby/Mjolnir2, and happy.

I added a 7' Periapt cable, balanced, and currently some very neutral 5814A's in MJ2, and have no complaints. 😁

How are these for EDM? Was considering these or the V-Moda Crossfades. Currently have a AT WS99 Solid Bass edition.
