April Music Eximus DP-1
Jan 25, 2012 at 12:29 PM Post #138 of 803
Tried the DP1 on my Windows 7 machine last night.  All sample rates worked great, except for 88.2.  I tried Foobar and JRiver and both of them would play the 88.2 files, but the DP1's sample rate light showed yellow (44.1/48).  Any ideas?

I used the Theyscon drivers from April Music and tried WASAPI and ASIO.

Well, I rebooted and it's working perfectly now - must've been my PC.

Wanted to mention that the headphone amp in the DP1 is dead silent to my ears, all the way through the volume dial.

Also, I'll be getting LCD2 R2 soon and will post impressions with the DP1 :)

Just curious, what (if any) differences do you guys hear between opt/coax/usb inputs?

Why don't you try and share your experience with us? I've already made up my mind on that matter, we'll see if we agree

BTW, this video really seems to advocate for those EMI/RFI caps: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KFciL0qjqu0

I have to admit that when I put one of those on the coax input of the Firestone Bravo, I did find the SQ over USB to be improved...placebo or not ^^

And I'm reading a lot of positive feedback on a local audiophile forum too. I've also been told that this sort of things does wonders: http://www.audioprism.com/quietline.html

I just love how all those seemingly über-snake oil tweaks start making more and more audible improvements the more you go up the food chain

I haven't spent enough time with each input yet to really say what the differences are.

Those Cardas input covers look awesome!

Here is a discussion about Cardas Caps. Sounds like it is just some more snake oil that does not work.

I believe this kind of subtle tweaks can only be heard w/ a combination of fairly high-end gear and transparent headphones...for what we know, the guys on that forum were using loudspeakers in non-acoustically treated rooms so they were listening to the walls and furniture more than to the equipment itself.

My neighbors blast me w/ wifi all day(I can pick up +10 networks) and there's a youtube video assessing their effect on unused inputs. This is not the kind of tweak that requires divine intervention in order to work ^^

I sure would like to try this gel pad if the price was less, $85 each. You could cut it to four pieces and use it under your four feet on the components, but that is still cheaper than those stillpoints are. Watch the egg drop video to see how effective it is. It has to be better than the gel pads I am currently using.

The one I am looking at is the light blue one with the nubs.

Just came across these damper feet.
The prices seem reasonable as they are for a set of four.

Click in the sidebar for the feet and don't bother with the English version.

Snake oil?

There's a lot of stuff out there besides Stillpoints. Black Diamond Racing cones are $20 each. Audio Prism Iso Bearings are $70/3. Golden Sound DH cones are as little as $50/3.

Yeah, a lot of stuff, but these Gallo gel pads I am now using makes the biggest difference that I have ever tried. They work much better than the cones, spikes, or sorbo pads that everyone else is pushing. I have tried them all.
