AP80 - Hidizs next portable Hi-Res music player

On a whim the other day I purchased an AP80 Pro and DH80 - I must say, considering I’m used to playing with much more expensive gear that this combination has seriously impressed me! I’ve definitely found my new TV watching BT setup (LDAC from Chromecast) - sounds quite a lot more engaging than the FiiO Q5 I have been using for this duty up to now!

Colour me impressed!
How do you like the Miktek? You have mentioned a brand that I have never heard of. Went to their site, and I must say I like their pricing. I am intrigued.

I don’t think this was meant for me?

What full-size headphones are people (successfully) using with the AP80 PRO ?

I have to say that the plucky little AP80 Pro and DH80 combination driving my AK T8ie mkII IEMs with a little tweaking of the MSEB gives me the best live experience I’ve heard at any price - I’m genuinely astounded by what you can achieve - it’s not bit perfect but neither is live music, so this is my getting down and dirty setup from this point on.

Me too. It is such a good match!

HI all. I hope someone can help me with this question.

I have the AP80 non pro. It has this thing called master switch in the equalizer section. I noticed it turned off it sounds different. I'm not sure if it sounds higher in volume or just more dynamic. Thanks

Master switch should be for switching on/off the entire equalizer section. If you don’t need any adjustments then definitely leave it off, and sound quality should be better.

Was that what you wanted to know?

The master switch enables and disables the EQ. The reason the volume may be different when the EQ is enabled is that it automatically adjusts the preamp gain to avoid distortion. So as you move sliders up, it adjusts the preamp gain down. I find this annoying too, as it makes it hard to compare the EQ changes with the volume changing all the time.

how is it that my ap80 pro has a 4X smaller battery (800mAh 3.7V Li-Polymer Battery) and gets the same playtime?

i regularly get 10hrs playtime off 24ohm headphones, and takes about 1hr 15 min to charge

makes no sense

FiiO X5 2nd Gen Specs
PowerUSB Charger: 5 VDC, 2 A (recommended)
Battery DisplayYes (accurate battery % readings)
Battery Capacity3300 mAh, 3.7 V Li-polymer
Battery Life>10 h (32 ohms; normal volume with display off)
Charging TimeUSB Charger: Approximately 4 hours

Gain is basically volume right? So the sound quality is the same with Master Switch on/off? I use the equalizer in the flat setting to test it out going back and forth.

gain is useless unless you volume is maxed out at 100 and you still need more

but my guess is the battery would be crap at that volume anyway
