Hey guys something went wrong with my AP80. I just loaded around another 500-1000 songs on top of 2000 songs. After refreshing the database, it always gets stuck on 879 songs, and I can't cancel the process.

I tried removing almost more than half of the songs I put, but somehow it got even worse and gets stuck around 625 songs.

Have no idea what the problem is, it was fine before I loaded these songs.

Are you sure the problem is not with reading of your uSD card? It was happy with first 2k songs, and then when copying more you could have triggered a bad memory block or something, so now it gets stuck reading the card. Just for poops'n'giggle, try another card with all your songs (2.5k-3k).

Or, one of the new files may be corrupted, or have bad tags... And when that file tag gets read, it stalls? Try just installing the original 2K files, none of the new ones.

OK, got one as well. When I go to HibyMusic player and want to get back to the main menu screen for system setting or bluetooth setting menu, I usually Exit the player to get to the main screen. I know, exiting doesn't stop the playback, but curious, is there some swipe shortcut or some shortcut to get back to the main screen menu without Exiting?

I've been using the card for about an year, it was previously inside my phone which took up 95% of the space. I had no problems with the card inside my phone so I don't think it's the card's problem. Like others have said, I think it's probably some music file with unsupported tags that makes the software go nuts. It's going to be a real pain because I added so many songs that I can't remember which ones are new, ugh.

Update: Okay so I sorted everything by date created which made it a lot easier. I removed everything that I copied from yesterday, and the database updates flawlessly. Must be some file with a crummy tag.

Update 2: Currently trying to isolate the crummy file

Update 3: Found the culprit! I think it's a few songs that's causing the error.

Good job!

I had a similar issue on another DAP, and it turned out to be a problem with the flash card itself. To my surprise, SanDisk confirmed later I had a fake card purchased from Amazon (ton of sellers under the official listing, go figure).

Can you examine the culprit tags and see what's causing the problem? Would be interesting to many of us to know this.

For those looking for a fitting case for the AP80. I made one with those two parts. It looks really great and hand perfectly on my belt and its not expensive. You just have to drill a hole on the side.
(edit: and cut a slit on the back to sit the clip) (edit again...: And glue the clip with two part epoxy if you want it to stay there forever)

The clip that goes with it:

Looks like a great solution. There's no access to the buttons and volume wheel? Can you share a pic of it with the clip on & AP80 inside?

I am pretty sick today. If I find the time and the strength I will post a pic. But to access the buttons you need to raise the top of the casing like you can see in the Aliexpress link, look at the picture with the words ''soft inner cloth'' and '' A mesh pocket inside''.

Yeah, I was gonna say if the card was from Amazon, it's likely it was a fake. It's too bad, because honest retailers are selling some good cards on there for good prices... but at this point, there's unfortunately no certainty that ordering an SD card anywhere on Amazon will result in being shipped a legit card. I guess the fakes can be pretty impressive-looking. Bummer that you got a fake card... I've been biting the bullet and buying them at brick and mortar retailers at regular prices because of this fiasco.
