Any old fart head-fi'ers still around?

Unfortunately, not even out of my driveway yet. Spent the last two months getting rid of all my stuff, packing Putt (my step van) and readying my house for sale. Four roll-off dumpsters and much blood, sweat and tears later my house will close a week from today, I'll get my money, and get the heck out of here before the snow flies. First stop: RMAF Saturday. Then points south for a nice warm winter for a change.

Thanks man. As you already know, the price is going crazy again our hobby!

Oh, treat yourself with some Stax gear.....the Stax SRM-D10 is quite a great rig to take along. Just grab a used SR0009 to take with ya or the L700.

Tyll,
Thank you for the many hours I have spent reading and watching your reviews. I hope retirement is all you hope it will be.

Hardly nobody will get the joke, but the original Etys had a problem with the tips being too loose.

I got mine in 2002 and I'm still a n00b, because I think that must have been before my time.

Hey Skylab,

Your series of portable amp reviews was the driving force behind my getting carried away with headphones, when I joined in 2007. I really appreciate all the hard work you put into those reviews, especially since I always found them to be trustworthy, including your review of the Oppo HA-1 that you did for InnerFidelity, if I remember correctly.

Speaking of "old farts" who made great contributions, I was sad to hear that Tyll Hertsens has retired. His good-bye post is an interesting read:

Like you, I've been into speakers mostly, a near-field monitor setup, where the room treatments aren't necessary. The imaging is wonderful compared to headphones of course. I've still got three complete desktop rigs (den, office, living room) that I use from time to time and portable gear, used infrequently.

Here's the most recent thread I started: https://www.head-fi.org/threads/top...ansformers-for-affordably-clean-power.857448/

Mike

Thanks Mike! That’s very kind of you...I definitely had fun during that period!

Wow. What a perfectly lovely waste of an hour. Nice to see all you old timers...even though you're still a bunch of n00bs to me. Been at this so long I've completely forgotten what we're talking about. Retired because I thought I was loosing some hearing in my right ear. Went to the Doc and they found an Ety tip in there from 1998.

(Hardly nobody will get the joke, but the original Etys had a problem with the tips being too loose. Ah well. Hey look, a chicken.......)

Tyll, I hope you have a blast, buddy. It was fun getting to know you a bit when I was writing for you at Innerfidelity. My first and last paid reviewing gig  Enjoy your retirement - I hope we get to read an update from you every now and again.

Skylab played a part in my purchase of 2 Ray Samuels Audio portable headphone amps...

Careful there... I was sitting opposite an older gent on the train this summer when he put up his leg like that, a ball casually rolled out.

He didn't seem to even notice.

I was transfixed. It was so... long.

I reconfirmed how long I've been here when I found my old pocket Pimeta v1 while going through boxes from storage today. Single 9v, socketed 8610s, semitransparent blue enclosure. Still sounds good.

I have a PPA in a storage box. Need to listen to this very fine amp again.

I still have a PPA and a JMT Pimeta (previously in this configuration)... both in bits unfortunately, been meaning to rebuild them but you know how it is.

The only time I use headphones now is outside, and I've never had much time for portable amps/DACs. At home it's the earthshakers in the cinema room or the Homepods everywhere else.
