Any love for the Activo CT10?

I was excited to see Last.fm update the Android app on my Pixel 4XL, so I found the APK for Last.FM 2.2.0.2 (latest release) to see if it would fix the not scrobbling issue. Not only does it not, but when I open the app on CT10, a window appears saying "Notification Access is required; The notification access permission is required to scrobble playing tracks." and when I click OK, app closes/crashes and another window pops up stating "Unfortunately Last.fm has stopped."

Help me, Obi--I mean, @JasonNYC . You're my only hope.

There will be a firmware update soon. Unfortunately with COVID-19, most of our staff around the world has been working from home, which has delayed some of our development. I will share once I get a release date on the next firmware update.

Hello! I have recently bought the CT10, and my initial impressions of the device are really good! This thread helped me finalize my purchase, as I was debating between the FiiO M6 and the CT10. I'm quite glad I bought this instead!

That being said, I have a couple of minor issues with this DAP, and hope someone here will be able to address them:-

1. Coming from a FiiO M3K, the battery stand-by on this device seems to be far less. I've charged it twice since I bought it 4 days back, and my listening time hasn't even been close to 4 hours. Is it something I'm doing wrong in terms of settings or is it so by default? I've read about people claiming the device lasts for days before requiring a charge.
2. When I use it in my car, should my USB output be set to DoP or PCM?

I had a few hiccups when installing Spotify, but after figuring out the right apk, it was a breeze. Then, Spotify refused to play music, so, I performed a quick reboot, and all was back in order. No other issues as yet, which I'm extremely glad about.

Edit: Nevermind! Figured it out myself. Thank you!

@JasonNYC
When using spotify and tidal with the screen off, fast forward button and rewind button doesn’t work properly. Even if I press the fast forward button one time, it works as if I pushed the button three times. Same for the rewind button. This doesn’t happen when my screen is turned on. Is this same for all the other people? or am I the only one who has this problem?

Firmware 1.20 has just been released, and I can confirm that the forward and reverse buttons for Tidal now work properly while the screen is off!

NOTE: Previously, on firmware 1.13, I was using the Tidal 2.19 .apk file downloaded from APKpure, but it no longer launches on firmware 1.20. However, Tidal 2.25.0.991 (that I found posted by Fiio at the top of page 158 in the thread about the Fiio M9 DAP) does launch on the Activo CT10 with firmware 1.20, and it works perfectly, and the forward and reverse buttons work properly while the screen is off.

I tried some newer Tidal .apk files from the mobile version of softpedia, and they also don't work. That one that Fiio posted is the only sideloadable version of Tidal that I can get to launch on my CT10 with firmware 1.20.

I also got my ct10 couple of days back and I am quite impressed with audio quality.
But like you said the battery life is below par at 4 hrs per charge. Did you find a way to get this close to 10 hrs?
I usually listen at 80-90 volume level. But I feel I am not charging the device to it's full capacity. Is there any indicator you see to know that? I see 4 bars in the battery icon then I remove the charger.
It would be good in future update if we could see percentage instead of just 4 bars.

I do not have an ETA yet. I will share when I have more information.
Hello, thank for the new update.
I face some heating issue after using ct10 for 30 mins. Is this normal?
Presently getting 4 hrs battery life on single charge. Not sure if my device is faulty.

Also would like to have battery percentage indicated while charging and while using in further update.
Also if the minimum brightness can be reduced to bare minimum, it will save lot of battery.

Hi @JasonNYC, Here's the new CT10 lover.
I have few questions about the Tidal integration.
  • Do you have a plan to add download feature into the integrated Tidal app?
  • Does the Android Tidal App that is installed through OpenService feature supports MQA full decoding?
    • Because I could hear a sound difference between from integrated Tidal app and Android Tidal app.
Thanks!
BTW, I love this device.

@JasonNYC
Any plans for .opus support?
The Activo CT10 does not see .opus files. If I change the extension to .ogg the file is visible but playback is broken.
In a playlist the renamed file does not automatically start playing and is eventually skipped.
However if I manually jump in the progress bar then playback is OK.

Currently no plans to support .opus files, but I will pass this suggestion onto our dev team.

Due to contractual obligations between Tidal and the record labels, we are prohibited from adding an offline mode to our embedded Tidal app. The Android Tidal app installed via OpenService does support full MQA decoding as the CT10.

Hi @JasonNYC Thanks for a quick response. Awesome.
Could I ask for one requirement through you?

Would it be possible to add new feature for mapping one of hardware buttons to the back button instead of using a floating button? Because I don't use previous/rewind button that much but use back button more frequently. So if I could use previous/rewind button as a back button, it would be great. I could keep my screen neat and easy to control my device. I know adding new feature is not a easy task but if this would be great improvement for many users I bet.

Anyway thanks for your eager support!
