I keep wanting to try a USB DAC with my Nexus 6P (7.1.1). What is a good budget DAC that will work. I have a few portable amps that I can pair with as DAC.

I am open to specific playback apps as well.

Thanks for the recomdations

I dont know your definition of budget,
but the shanling up is pretty nice. it costs around 130 on amazon i think.
i ordered one for testing it as i plan to replace my cayin i5 with a new smartphone + dac.
the shanling sounds great as stated before, but then i was able to buy a cozoy aegis
from a fellow head-fi'er for 100€ so ill use that and send the up back to amazon.

I really like my new Xduoo XD-05, using it with my Samsung Galaxy S7 for sound of Epic Win!
It's cheap and very good for the price!

I had issues with Nougat and Hify when I had my Pixel before I sold it. I just bought another one so I'll report back the results.

ps. they also accept international reservation but this will come at the cost of slightly higher price due to the conversion rate and different shipping costs, according to their reply to international buyer in FB.

What do you guys think will sound better, my LG V10 w/ a DragonFly Red, or my V10 w/ a Fiio A5, which is just an amp (but a very good one, apparently)?

Thanks!

I have a FiiO E12 which is the model that the A5 succeeded and it sounds very good.

Latest Pixel XL build.

UAPP not the Android system both do not recognize a DAC when it is plugged in.

EDIT: NVM, I got hit by the Pixel USB cable issue.

Seems like if I plug my pixel into my computer, it will only recognize that cable for the duration of the session and no other cable or usb device.

Hiby still doesn't work. Only UAPP.

I just bought a phone with only a USB-C port on it. I already own quite a few DACs. Waiting for it to arrive so I can play around. If things go as I think, I'll be able be able to use my DACs to listen to music. They did work with a previous phone, but they sucked the battery life out of them. Both the Apogee Groove and FiiO E17K worked with an OTG cable with previous phones and I expect this phone to do the same, with the appropriate cable. The next step is to find a quality DAC that also uses the microphone so I can make calls. . .

I have a Samsung 5 which has one single end cable that has a combined dual port, one for Charging (USB Micro B) other for Data (Micro HDMI), the other end is the standard USB A that I attach into adapter plug for electric source.

From reading a few threads here it appears I need to use a OTG Micro B to Mini B to attach to a RSA Intruder. That forces the phone to be the driving end of the USB stream, and not the receiving end.

1) Since my phone has combined dual port one data the other micro b , do I just plug the OTG micro B into the micro B of the combined dual port of the Samsung and the mini B into the RSA Intruder

2) How important is that the OTG has to be at the Micro B end and not at the Mini B end, or will it work if its at either end.

3) I only have been able to find a 8'' OTG Micro B to Mini B, https://www.cdw.com/shop/products/StarTech.com-8in-USB-OTG-Cable-Micro-USB-to-Mini-USB-M-M/3955058.aspx?pfm=srh however I want one that's only about 4 1/2" or 5'' Can someone point me to that size.

Maybe someone has been down this road Thx
