Android phones and USB DACs

It works! Galaxy Note 2 >> USB OTG adapter cable >> ODAC >> Tralucent T1 >> Spiral Ear 5-way!

Did not need UARP. Looks like I'll need some USB power injector. The ODAC drains the Note 2 fast.

I just flashed the CyanogenMod 12/12/13 nightly on my Nexus 5 and now USB audio hot plugging is fully working! FiiO E07K plug, unplug, replug working without a reboot.

NICE. I'll have to try it later. CM11 is already at 4.4.2 as well.

The HifimeDIY U2 and Bravo V3 on the N5, with Wifi to my 2TB+ music collection will make a nice wireless, bedside, tube headphone setup.

cm-11 nightly (20131209) did not support native playback over USB.  I can confirm though, that cm-11 nightly (20131212) does support native USB audio as well as hot-plugging on the 2013 Nexus 7 too.

sorry to ask this but there are almost 250 pages here , it may have been discussed somewhere but... . i have already read that the new moto g will work with a dac , i think it works with the fiio e18 . but i was specifically wondering if the spotify app would work with this combination. if nobody can say for sure does the usb audio out on an android phone usually work with the spotify app ?

cheers all

I don't use Spotify, but if the USB DAC is supported natively by the phone (rather than needing UARP / UAPP) then it will work with all audio sources. I've been testing with PowerAmp, Neutron, BubbleUPnP, SoundCloud, AH.FM and YouTube. Even notifications play through the DAC with the appropriate lowering of media volume.

As the Moto G is very close to pure Google it should have good CyanogenMod support very shortly, too.

Moto G and Moto X already have native USB Audio support, it's been verified here.  That's the frustrating thing, they are so close to pure Google and yet pure Google doesn't/won't provide the native support.  Kondik figured it out, Google's own company Motorola figured it out, so why not Google?  SMH

Note of course that I don't think Spotify is broadcasting lossless format.

Hi DanielP

Can I please ask you what version of the Nexus 7 (2013) you own? (the wifi only or the 4g?)
Reason I ask is because there are 2 versions of the rom available for download
confused.gif
, and was considering buying the new Nexus 7 for Caraudio duties, using the USB Audio out with a Behringer UCA202.
Thank You very much in advance
Daniel

I think this is known, but I have a Nexus 7(2013) wifi. Just put the 4.4.2 software on it. When I take my USB OTG stack (ODAC amp) which works on my Note 2, and plug it into the Nexus, it don't work, nothing, zero, zilch, nada. Odds are CM11 will get there ahead of the, not holding my breath on the official ROMs.
