Android: Neutron Music Player

You ears can’t tell the difference that your eyes can, methinks.

Neutron is just being a bit too transparent about the way MP3 is being decoded.

“In fact, although the mp3 word is a 16-bit file, when playing the mp3 it will decode to full 32-bit float.” -Bob Katz

Thanks so much @WitzyZed - appreciate your fast responses and reassurance! Be well.

Hiya all..can somebody please either tell me how to use, or link me to an explanation of, the neutron player? What i mean is, what sources of music will auto-connect with it? Not Spotty or YouTube, so how does one import files for it to play, and from where? Please pardon my state of extreme ignoramushood!

Noob question... Could someone please tell me how to get neutron to play hi res on m11 pro? I’m only getting 16/48 from 96/24 music. This is my first time with neutron mp. Settings seem a bit overwhelming. Thanks!

You can try going to "settings", "audio hardware" and then under audio hardware find "follow source frequency". Check it and see if helps.

I am wondering if there is an option to increase/ decrease the volume steps in the Neutron app?

I just got an iPad 5 mini and have some questions about how to get best audio using neutron.

I used the FTP server to transfer my FLAC music to the iPad.

Unfortunately it seems that iOS coverts FLAC to 24/44.1 PCM without regard for the original file (apologies if this is not correct terminology/understanding). Is there a way to get closer to get bit perfect from my FLAC files? I doubt I could ever hear the difference, just curious. It seems to work great on my Android Samsung S10+, which says 16/44.1/FLAC when playing the same files. It seems like both device have a fixed sample rate regardless of what Neutron says on the playback screen - 48 kHz for the S10+ and 44.1 kHz fro the iPad (I can't change the Frequency on the Audio Hardware Menu for either device, although the ipad displays 48 kHz and 44.1 kHz options, they don't seem to be selectable).

Would the iPad benefit from selecting the 32-bit Output (IEEE 754) in this case or not? Bit depth on the playback screen does change to show 32 bit when I do so (last image shows this).

(these are 16/44.1 recordings ripped from CD).

I've been using the Ztella USB DAC for the past week & I can't figure out why under follow source frequency it doesn't show 44100. It starts @ 48000 instead. I know the DAC supports 44.1 because USB Audio Player Pro is able to output that sample rate to it. Any thoughts?

Version 2.13.4 has just added a Tile/Grid View for Artist & Albums. Long press on artist or album section and click the setup gear to find the option.

It still feels like Neutron but it’s a nice UI adjustment.
