AKG or Sennheiser

I have both and for portable, around town use the AKG's rule.

Not really a fair comparison though, the 238 is open, the 518 is closed.

What are you listening to and what will you be plugging them into?

Save up and get ath-M50's

So would you say ATH-M50's would be better then the other 2? I just don't want any regrets when buying an expensive item.
I have always had cheep cans or buds so buying a better headphone from $100-$200 on a leap of faith is something I don't want.

you won't regret it.  But if you're worried about that, buy them used so you can sell them back without any loss.  But you won't regret it they will change your life.

I have an Rockboxed 80gb 5.5gen ipod I use on the go and when I am at home I use my pc for tv, movies, music, and games. My work makes me travel so I do spend allot of time on buses or trains. My taste in music is trance/electronic, rock, Metal, Punk/New Wave. So whatever headphone would do the job the best.
