Anyone use a portable DAC with the K545 and iPhone 4s?
Anyone use a portable DAC with the K545 and iPhone 4s?
I'm using the C5D with a usb connection so I can use the dac.
Aside from reduced noise from the dac, I'd say the amp also helps out with bass extension and widens the separation a bit (but whether that really means anything to you is purely ymmv). Honestly I have no way to truely A/B blind test so it's very possible that I have bias towards wanting to hear something from the C5D.
The greatest advantage of using the C5D is that you get a nice 260 dollar hand warmer.
The headphone itself is really easy to drive so it really doesn't need an amp at all but a dac would really help out to eliminate noise (of course if you're going to be listening to these headphones outside, there's going to be other outside noise factors as well).
I've only used the Vamp Verza on my 5s... Warms up cause of the DAC. It does improve it though.
I was looking at this combo and I'll probably get it after I get bored of my sound. Does the CCK make it inconvenient to carry around?
If I had $500 to spend I'd have this in a heartbeat. Lol is it really worth it?
I hope Apple improves the iPhone DAC in their next phone or at least makes it so companies don't need a license from them.
The DAC in the iPhone is actually a good DAC.
As for the licensing, it is actually only put in place to ensure that the product works properly with the 30-pin/8-pin connectors that Apple uses. In order to obtain the license, you have to hit certain standards (which will then allow you to put the "made for iPhone/iPod" tag on your product). That tag simply means that it has been tested to meet Apple's standards so it won't lose support if Apple updates the software for whatever reason. Certain software updates have been known to break unlicensed hardware, and it isn't always intentional (or known why it happens).
