I just received my AKG K702, imported from US to Australia for AU$298 including shipping from eBay... what a steal! Wow! I was not expecting these to be this good after all the "plasticy" comments and unappreciation threads. Sorry, these are almost perfect and sound more fun to me than the Denon AH-D2000 I received a couple of months ago. I haven't even logged an hour into them yet. This is exactly what I was looking for. Thank you to those who actually did write positive reviews, you have helped guide me to my new true love.

Sorry for the outburst!

Edit: I'm running them directly through my Focusrite Saffire PRO 24 DSP Audio Interface. I receive the Bravo V2 12AU7 amp soon. It's scary to think they will improve these :)

Cheers!

Hey, Grats on your new-found headphone joy!

The AKG K701/2  have had their "hard times" on Head-Fi, but remain a very popular product for those that can appreciate it's strengths.

Thanks man! I've probably written enough, but I forgot to mention they are very comfortable aswell. I was having trouble adjusting the D2000's which got annoying to the extent I wanted to throw them out the window. These sit perfectly on my big head! :)

Congrats! One of my favorite headphones ever! I started with the D2000 as well, but the 702's are WAY beyond them imo. One of the best bang for the buck 'phones on the market. Did you buy them new? If so, prepare for them to get dramatically better with 300+ hours of burn in. Also, grab a matrix m-stage if you haven't already. Cheers!

I got the Bravo V2 coming in soon. I assume Matrix M-Stage is an amp that makes the best synergy with 702's?

Edit: I got them Brand New Factory Sealed. See you in 300+ hours then :)

I can see why, man. I'm hearing textures I have never heard before even in my own productions. It's fantastic!

Cheers.

I will continue to enjoy them thank you very much. :)

I should have written my only true love, really, however we're still getting to know each other hehe. I don't think there's anything else I would want to get at the moment.

I'd like to maintain the idea that I have the best headphones that are true to my taste.

Edit: I wanted to ask, what kind of cables are available for these since they're detachable?

I know there must be a mountain of threads about the AKG K701 vs the AKG K702 but I do no have the super human strength to sift through them all.  Since this is a new thread and I'm thinking most of you are AKG K701 or AKG K702 owners can someone give me a brief description of the difference between the two?  I would be eternally grateful.  Thanks.

702 is black & blue (I think) w/ a detachable cable, too.

701 looks 10x better, and has a cool, cheap stand.

Let me apologize for my ignorance right from the start.    Are the 701's and the 702's actually the same headphone but just cosmetically different?
