I'm about to buy a pair of these and a FiiO E9 amp. Anyone have suggestions for a DAC? Does the HRT Music Streamer II work well with the E9? How much of an improvement would the Music Streamer be over an E7?

I currently have an Audio Technica ATH-A700 playing straight out of my laptop. Would this set up be a big improvement?

Is the E9 + MSII a big improvement over E9 + E7? I'm trying to justify spending the extra money.

Definitely is to me, but not for others. I think the MSII is worth every penny. Not a big fan of the E7 at all, but most everyone seems to like it.
There is also the E10.

There were a few mentions from people who have recabled their K601, but nothing concrete.  I would really like to terminate these babies to balanced input.  Anyone care to share how they did theirs or any guides out there?

It's a 4 conductor cable so all you need to do is chop the 1/4" TRS off and add an XLR.  My notes say:

White: L-
Yellow L+
Black: R-
Orange: R+

A question for K601 owners, will a Fiio E11 or iBasso D-Zero be able to drive them properly?

S/N 6708, and the K601 is growing on me. Just listen to the wonderful Wild Is the Wind with Nina Simone - such separation and space. Made in Austria too. Since I hade the K401 and K501 before, and could get the K601 and K701 second hand at good prices, I took the jump. After summer holidays I'm looking forward to some serious comparisons.
