This is why I don't buy IEMs without removable cables >.<
I'm just too scared haha. Even if a removable cable IEM is still prone to breakage it still gives me a bit more peace of mind.
Especially how much the AKG K3003 costs. I2ehan I hope everything sorts itself out :D

+1

that'll cost you a lot less http://www.head-fi.org/t/579023/um-miracle-universal (so will a Merlin DD/BA hybrid)

Depends on your personal preference. Though I would say the merlins sound more special than the K3003s with the realistic and natural rumbling bass that makes it feel ohhh-so real.

Hmm, even though the K3003s are technically better than the Westone 4s, I think I do prefer the Westone 4s over them.

Interesting, due huge price difference.

Could you elaborate a little bit more? Also, have you tried the universal UM Merlin?

I am looking for a universal upgrade from the W4, so am curious about how they compare to K3003/UM Merlin, as these are the ones that seem to challenge the W4.

No offense, but these two posts seem somehow contradictory in my book. First of all, the K3003 have extremely realistic and well textured bass rumble, so how much more would you need from the Merlins? And secondly, if you're so keen on bass rumble, why do you prefer the W4s to the K3003 then? I concur that the W4 are excellent IEMs, but their bass is distinctly lighter and less textured than the K3003's.

No, no, no. I didn't say I prefer bass rumble, I just meant that it has a really good bass rumble that many may like. I'm not a fan of bass(in fact I prefer my bass clean), so I'm just saying. It's just that the rumble of the Merlins really "wowed" me, they were the first IEM (universal demo, though) that are able to produce rumble that feels like you're actually rumbling but when you touch the IEM to see if it's vibrating, it weirdly isn't.

EDIT: Okay, maybe I sounded a little contradictory there but what I really meant was that I don't really like bass but upon hearing the bass of the Merlin's it's as though it made me love bass. Though I would think twice about it's highs not being as good as others.
