I contacted the Stereo Singapore website, inquiring about a possible US purchase, and was kindly forwarded to a sales rep, who replied as follows:

May I just double check whether you are interested in the K3003 or the K3003i?
K3003i is the one with the build-in microphone compatible only for Iphone in case you are wondering the difference.
 
May I also have the address to ship to so I can calculate the shipping fees for you

 
Seems they're rather willing to ship internationally, at the buyer's expense of course, and have at least acknowledged both versions, which I presume are available for purchase, for those interested.

Darn, he beat me to the price...  I was gonna say an arm and a leg.  At least it's quite a bit under European MSRP (which was around 1500 USD).

Bear in mind, the above quoted price is for the K3003, as the product page declares, and not the K3003i.

True true...  I'd still assume it's still well under MSRP, a remote addon will cost no more than 20 dollars USD (the max I've seen any company do). However, if AKG did charge 400 USD for the mic addition, then...  Well...  Yeah.

K3003I is exactly SGD 100 more.

Locally, MSRP is ~USD1380.
But they have some promo for the 1st 10 persons to order: ~USD1040.

Ordering from Stereo Singapore was actually a straightforward and smooth experience, even though they don't have a webshop. They're very professional and responsive with email. You tell them your address and they'll reply with a quote for standard and expedited shipping (FedEx $40 SGD  / $75 SGD in my case). If you decide to buy, they'll send you a paypal invoice (no added fees for paypal in my case). Within less than 1 hour (!) after sending my payment I was given a tracking number and my K3003 arrived only a few days later. I will gladly buy from them again.

We use Fedex for shipment and prices are as follow,
 
Fedex priority $80 SGD (around 2-3days to arrive)
Fedex economy $50 SGD (around 5 to 6 days to arrive)

 
There you have it, for those in the States, interested in either model.

On a different note, I've been noticing a first potential issue with my K3003 recently, their cables are (slightly) prone to memory, at least if you wear them over the ear. I'm not sure whether this might develop into a problem later on, apart from that the cables seem to have very high build quality. Still a bit disappointing in my book, especially considering the K3003's sky-high price tag. The far cheaper IE8/80 have better cables imo.
