the k3003 should have sufficient treble.

@skerry - in answer to your questions: haven't had any problems with the cable but like idsynchrono i handle mine with care. and like tumburu says, treble roll-off is not an issue plus it comes with a treble boost filter anyways. not felt the need to try it myself coz the reference filter gives me ample treble extension and detail.

I would cross the Ultrasone off the list. I've heard from TomScy that it's just not a good phone. The IE800 has proprietary tips as well, something you should be aware of. I've never heard that phone, so do carefully weigh the pros and cons between the two

I own the IE800 and K3003. Get the K3003. It's just flat out better in most areas

How would you compare them to the FX850s? I own the 850s and am pretty satisfied; but I had a chance to give the 800s a brief listen, and I was pretty amazed by the imaging. Haven't tried the 3003s though, would you say they are similar imaging-wise? What would be the strength of the 3003s?

Happy listening!

I don't think the FX850 is in the same tier as the IE800 or K3003.

The K3003's imaging is superb, with great forward image projection. I love it.

I have not heard the 850s. The IE800 has insane soundstanging and imaging capabilities. The K3003 is great too but not sure if I'm willing to say it's better than the IE800 in this. Maybe about the same?

what are the best tips for k3003?.. i have problems with my ie8 tips, they fall out of my ears a lot when walking/dancing. sound-wise the black foam was superior for my ie8, how is it with k3003?

If you're dancing the K3003 might fall out of your ears. I just use the standard silicon tips that came with it. It's not the most secure IEM in the world. I would say get the SE846 if you want something plugged in and never falling out. If you want the best sound stop dancing and sit down and listen to your music, the sound is mesmerizing enough that you won't need to do anything else except pick your jaw off the floor and wipe the drool away from your face.

@skerry - like m-13 says, it comes with silicone tips in three sizes. if you're looking for an earphone with secure fit and durable cables then you might want to look elsewhere.

someone mentioned that the ortofon silicone stock tips (the ones sold with EQ-5) can also be used with the K3003 just fine.

is this true ?
