AKG K240 Sextett--Grado'd AKG?

I know that some people in this topic have Sennheiser HD 250 headphones and i have a question about these.

Do you absolutely need the plastic rings of the old pads to install new pads, or can you install the pads without the rings? Glue them on or something.

Thanks

Hi,

I don't have an HD250 but an HD540 that use the same pads/rings.
Yes you need that rings. If you plan to glue them directly on the capsule, I'm pretty shure you will destroy the capsule, sound, ...
But you can buy new ones with the HD430 pads you can found on Thomann (compatible with HD250, HD540). You can re-use the ones on your olds pads too (you may need to destroy the pads because between pads an ring, there is a piece of solid plastic that is not easy to remove).

Hi AKG Sextett's fellows !

Here is my AKG K242 MP... back to the future !

I recently buy an AKG K242 sextett MP and completely renewed with new foam inside and balanced mod (with MMCX connectors). I fall in love so easily <3

I have two with 240 style (flared) and one other with a 141 style (parallel). The 240 style came with solid cups. 141 style with vented cups and silver AKG printed inner head band. So I'd say 2 made early and 1 made really late.

I can't say if solid=flared and vented=parallel though. But that's how my samples indicate.

Looks good! Does it sound better than with the original cable?
Yes it sound better but honestly, it's probably due to quality of replacement cable, the 170 CEMA (UPOCC litz). The real advantage is that I can use my different cables with all my headphones and IEMs (The sennheisers have sennheiser/female MMCX adaptators).

Hey everyone, what is the material that covers the driver? And where can you buy it? And has anyone try to use this same material with different headphones? thanks
