Actually the two that immediately come to mind are AKG and Sennheiser. Of course there are a couple that makes phono cartridges and headphones that get it pretty right too. I think of them as transducer manufactures, and their experience at both ends of the music chain is key to their success.

Lol, funny dynamics in this post. People love 'em or hate 'em it would seem. I've got the 702's paired with a Burson HA160 and after about 150 hours it's pretty magic. I think the amp changed more than the phones did though with burn in.
 
But in the spirit of this thread, I'll suggest a Sennheiser phone for something different.
