Good morning all
Yesterday I charged about 5 hours , the charger indicated full
I started use around 1,45 , as I woke up this morning around 7 o clock , the battery was flat / no sound
That's mean the battery can last below 5 hours for charging about 5 hours , so sad
I let running at
volume : 50 %
Music file : wav only
Screen : totally off
Headphone : bayerdynamic T51p


I will charge longer than 5 hours and I will update later by tonight
I just plug on my wall charger

I will test with dad file and will see what happen with battery duration
Maybe max 3 hours than is very bad for so kind of dap
I use original firmware 0,50
Haven't update yet

Yesterday at Jaben store I tested the demo unit with my Earsonic sm 64 v1
SQ wise very good
I haven't test with any different iems and custom iems

.  For portable listening only, one chassis and with IEMs what is your pick for best player ?  I mean in SQ terms only.....none of the other stuff matters.....to me.

There is the reason for the reduced battery life.  The specs don't specify what load the battery life last longer.  I would say efficient BA iems would last a lot longer.

Why are they selling this product while its battery problem and firmware problem are very apparent? 
I'd consider this unit to be still in a beta testing stage. 3-5 hours of battery life is way too short.

The M is clearly, based on spec, intended for iem use.  We also know there is a battery metre issue in the current firmware.  Full to dead is the only real indicator right now.  And even then if the thing auto shuts down when the faulty battery metre reports low battery... not real either.  That said I need the battery to last about two hours tops so... meh  There is no free lunch gents.  If you want deep class A bias, a huge screen and an xmos processor you need to feed them.  Now if it eats batteries AND sounds like garbage then they have a problem.  No one cries that the AK240 has low battery life... just saying.

Can you play music while charging?
If you can, can you try to use an external USB battery? 
I think this can significantly improve its battery shortage problem.

Square Wave, the China distributor for the Calyx M, has information on the new firmware that will be installed in their next batch of Ms due in June. It looks good:

Is it being forced into USB mode even with a standard power charger? That would explain it. And there should be a way, as with Rockbox, to tell it not to switch over.
