Thanks all for the suggestions. I'll check out that other tube type. Just got some cheap RCA 6080 in and one is very quiet and one has a minor buzzing that comes and goes in different frequencies (so it is possible to find quieter ones. Lol).

I'll also get to cleaning some of these pins.

This is probs a dumb question, but are you allowed to have that front spot empty @RestoredSparda? In mine, the back row can be empty but not the front.

Happy day. Just got the Mullard 6080 pair in from Langrex. They are much quieter than any of my RCA or GE 6080 tubes. Just a barely audible 60hz hum that's par for the course with OTLs. Very happy with the results. As a bonus they sound excellent on first listen.

Baldwin (Sylvania made) 5U4GB, pair of Sylvania 6J5GT, and pair of Mullard 6080.

I tried an RCA 3DG4 for a week but switching to a 5U4GB was a big improvement. The 3DG4 was a bit grainy and harsh.

Hoping to place an order for a Glenn OTL - how can I reach out to Glenn?

You can send him a private message. A word of warning though - from what I've seen, Glenn hasn't completed an order in probably 3 or 4 years. There's a backlog of folks whose orders never got built, and others who have not received a refund for orders that were never completed either (including myself). No offense to Glenn, I know he's been going through a lot of medical issues, but I don't think he's in a position to be taking new orders right now.

Does anyone know if the 5CU4 rectifier is capable of running 4 6336 tubes or is 2 the limit?

Two is the limit. And this is true regardless of what rectifier you use. The limit is heater current. Two 6336 (or 6528) require 10 Amps of heater current. Four 6336 would require 20 amps. The vacuum tube heater transformer simply cannot provide this much current.

That said, four 6080 require only 10 amps so enjoy! :)

How about 6AS7?

Yes, four 6AS7 require only 10 amps and would be safe and fine. :)
Thank you, you’ve been really helpful! I got some Chatham Tubgsol 6336 are these considered good or are there better options?
