anyone with a glenn el3n interested in trading for a Glenn OTL?
That didn't take long. Congrats on the quick sell.
It will probably be hard to find someone to do this as there are not as many EL3N amps out there, but it never hurts to ask as you never know.anyone with a glenn el3n interested in trading for a Glenn OTL?
It’s a long shot for sure but I have hope lolIt will probably be hard to find someone to do this as there are not as many EL3N amps out there, but it never hurts to ask as you never know.
Do you know if 5998 tubes are compatible? I read that a few users experienced issues with them in the Glenn? Is it safe to run 4 of them or better to stick to 6AS7/6080 if using 4?You should know that my ears are old and worn out.... But in my opinion, either Chatham / Tung Sol 6336A or 6336B, with graphite plates, are the best.

I had the pops happen with 6336 tubes and thought they were busted, I guess I’ll give them more time to warm up.Yes, they are compatible and the amp can easily handle four of them. However, it can take these tubes time to heat up to normal operating temperatures. and sometimes you might hear loud pops as the metal expands (and this can happen with other output tubes as well). If you have your headphones on your head and plugged in, these pops could be loud enough to damage your headphones, or even your ears. So it is a good idea to wait 5 minutes or more before plugging in your headphones. And for what it's worth, I also disconnect my headphones before turning the amp off. Most tube failures occur when tubes are powered up and powered down.
So be careful and enjoy.
Having a headphone driver blow out from an explosive pop, I added another layer of security. When trying out new tubes (or tubes that may be prone to problems) I plug in a cheap pair of sacrificial headphones first. However, the really cheap ones usually don't get damaged from a loud pop.Yes, they are compatible and the amp can easily handle four of them. I use a Sennheiser HD201 that cost around $13 open box. Nuttin' has killed it so far...A colourful (sacrificial ) 10-pack for $71.99:
Glenn isn't building amps any longer. You might want to try this thread.I have a request for Glenn to make me a tube amp for my susvara and modhouse tungsten. Price no bar. How to get in touch with him?
