I took my ZS3 apart, due it being defective, See the KZ impressions thread, there are some nasty photos of ZS3 insides...all the glue and twisted wires...

Cheers!

Is yours one of the ones in the batch of "defective ZS3" that have been reported recently?

My ZS3 purchased about 1 month ago still hasn't arrived, so I don't know yet if it's defective or not.

I just placed an order for some phones on Gearbest using credit card through PayPal and within an hour I received a call from my credit card company's early fraud warning department. It could be coincidence that a bunch of unauthorized charges were made right after ordering on Gearbest, but it seems highly unlikely that it is. I'm admittedly skeptical.

Is there a safer method of paying on Gearbest? If not, I don't know if I want to shop there anymore and risk canceling another credit card. I realize shopping online anywhere has a certain amount of risk, but I'm always a little more leery of Gearbest and the like.

Odd. How would they get your credit card info? I thought Paypal kept all that info to themselves.

@riffrafff is on target, the way PayPal works is the details of your specific payment (whether debit card, credit card, bank account, PayPal balance, PayPal Credit, etc.) is not sent to the merchant at all.

Now, if PayPal was hacked, that's another thing altogether... but it's more likely that your credit card was compromised through some other means.

I once got a call from a credit card company about a suspicious charge. $4000 for a porno web site in California. Interestingly, that particular card had never been used on teh interwebs.
Turns out a single computer on the credit card company's LAN wasn't secure, and hackers found it even though it wasn't internet-facing.

So you were only responsible for $2k of porn?

Pretty much. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

No, they caught it early enough. But it wasn't $4K of porn, it was for the creation of the web site itself. So had I been a partner with these guys, I prolly would have made money. :money_mouth:

Well I guess that sort of makes me feel better. It certainly could have been somewhere else, so I'll give Gearbest the benefit of doubt. It's just strange. And coincidence, perhaps.

I've literally bought hundreds of things from Gearbest, totaling thousands and thousand of dollars. I rarely if ever have a problem. When I do, it's usually damaged in shipment and Gearbest customer service always resolves it satisfactorily.

Where can I find info on these defective ZS3's? I been talking up Chi-Fi to the guy at the 7-11. He just got his ZS3 yesterday. I would hate his first Chi-Fi purchase to be a bad one. Bought from Geatbest SBTW.
