I just emailed them to see if they'll do upgrades from Quads or other 1964 Ears models like UM does. I am not optimistic about it but we'll see.

That's a good price for a 6 driver 3-way custom from a quality company. I'm really enjoying the V3 so I bet the V6 is also very good.

I would expect them to go into some more detail soon regarding the sound signature differences. The V6 may well end up being more on the neutral side, which means some people would actually be better served by the warm and smooth (and cheaper) V3. But I'm just speculating here.

It looks like a very good ciem, but I'm not convinced yet that more is better for reproduction. If I were going to buy a new one though, I'd like go with 1964 Ears, if I can resist the siren call of Heir Audio.

I sent in my order last week for a Quad, then I just saw the V6 today so I asked them if I could upgrade to the V6 for my order and pay the difference. Here's the reply

"We can upgrade you to the V6, but you will have to wait 2 more weeks for it to be completed. We are still training our technicians on the new design. Would you like to do that?

Although I'm not sure if they're in the process of making the Quad yet, or haven't gotten to it.

That's a good point.
I'll wait for a headfier to get a pair before I jump the gun. I like a warm signature. I'm loving the 1964-D, but I do wish there was just a little more top end to them so maybe the V3s are for me...
I just got my Ds so I probably wont do anything until late spring early summer.
So... Who's going to be the first here to order the V6s?

Took them a bit to release the v6, would love to try it. Alas, I already have a custom, which i am pretty satisfied with. :)
