1964 Ears Adel IEMs

Has anyone here compared the U8s to the U12s? I just sold my U8s, was gonna upgrade to the A18, but talked my way out of it, because I'm just not gonna drop $3K on IEMs. A12 is my max. Hope I didn't make a mistake.

Maybe also add new prototype X and Y to the list of options? I sure hope the pricing will be friendlier. So far a lot of positive feedback about Y.

Yes, I'm holding off until Black Friday, although I'll be on vacations out of the country, so hopefully, 64 would let me purchase w/ those discounts before or after the trip. I've read some impressions on the Y also and I'm hoping the new models will offer a more affordable alternative w/ TIA and was hoping that one of them was a revised version of the A12s and the other a more affordable version of the Fortes.

In this industry, there is a lot of "me too" and competition is stiff. I think that if a company comes up w/ a great product, it's only a matter of time before someone tops it or matches performance for better prices. Seen that with several manufacturers coming up w/ version 2 of their products.

U12 definitely have more detail up top than the U8

Wow, those connectors. They are freakin' huge!
Is that comfortable?

Just look at them relative to the IEM shell, they are not that huge :) Just that Chris's image is zoomed in.

Mistake IMO, wait for black Friday, get A18.

Does anyone has a good suggestion for a high end custom balanced cable to pair with the A18's?

Not sure about your budget, since high end cables are usually priced between $500 and $2k, but either Effect Audio Lionheart or DITA Truth Cu pair up very nicely with U18 and at the low end of that price range.

I have not had the pleasure to hear the U18 but I truly think the Dita Truth Copper is an awesome cable, if it's ergonomics were better it could easily be my go to for many IEMs. IMO it doesn't receive the recognition it deserves.

It sounds and pairs up great, but the memory effect of the cable will be a turn off for some. Interchangeable "awesome" plug is truly awesome, switching between connectors takes seconds, no need for adapters.
