I enjoy rock (classic, prog, jamband, blues, punk, grunge) , jazz, bluegrass, and some eclectic stuff like KD Lang and Tom Waits.

I use the FiiO X1 1st generation and the FiiO X5ii mostly.

Thank you for your suggestions, about time i explore some new music :)

Cheers

listening to dire straits brothers in arms with u8 is an amazing experience

started this journey over 4 years ago, and i used to use lots of eq with almost all my iems, the u8 simply converted me from a heavy eq users to a non eq user

I do not know if i am starting to prefer to be a purist or if the u8 is tuned to exactly my preference

Have you tried listening to it with a MAM? I hadn't reached for it in a while, but I think the MAM is my favorite out of the three modules I have for it.

Anyone here auditioned the U8 and the U6? I'm wondering what are the key differences.

By all accounts the U6 is neutral and flat in response. The U8 is bass-heavy, and wildly warm. They are not competition to one another, but vastly different signatures meant for vastly different tastes.

U6 = U10 - 4 drivers
U8 = U12 - 4 drivers?

In a lot of ways, yeah.

Granted, please understand, I am speaking only from second-hand info based on other people's reviews. I only know the U12 myself. But this thread is full of impressions and comparisons. @Brooko for instance knows the U6 and U10 quite well and even posted many measurements with different modules.

This seems to be the signature scheme:
U3. U6, U10 = Neutral
U4, U8, U12 = Warm and Bassy.

I can't say I remember what they say about the U5. Maybe mid forward? You should search this thread to be sure.

U8 is more dark & bassy than the U12. You can take a look at 64 Audio product sound signature chart. I found them fairly accurate.

The u5 is the special snowflake, the flattest iem in the lineup, more like the er4.
