500+ Head-Fier
Pros: - Punchy bass, lush and natural mids (including vocals) and smooth treble
- Non fatiguing all-rounder tuning
- Comfortable and well built shells
- Nice tip selection
Cons: - Average end-to-end extension and average technicalities, whereas other brands punch way above in this regard
- Not the fastest and full bodied low-end nor the most detailed treble around
- They need some power to shine and they like medium-to-high volumes in order to extract a very punchy and fuller bass
- Hard to recommend at their full price given the presence of some fierce competitors

Introduction

Hey, thanks for this.
Tell me please, I see some reviews that say the fit has to be as close as possible to the ear in order to make the best out of the BC driver. Some even claim that you can feel the BC driver working - the vibration with finger pressed on top of the BC driver. I myself don't feel anything with a finger like that, and the distance from my ear shell does not effect the sound at all. Tbh, it feels like the BC is dormant. But since I adore the sound, especially the bass, maybe those reviewers don't know what they are talking about and the BC doesn't actually work like that?

Hi @gael
Based on my experience with Odyssey, I would rather say, "better the contact, better the frequency transfer". I have never tried the latter (touching the BCD); however, considering both flesh and bone can function as speakers, the user might still feel something, if not hear, with fingers. It is still a subjective concept with mixed responses.
Cheers!

@iampidugu Yeah I finally got on some tracks that actually make the BC work at certain places in a track, like at certain frequency response I guess. But it feels like an SFX at best, not something that can influence the sound signature that much.

Nice diary review. I am afraid of the 8k peak, I have Hiby fc4 dongle. I am not sure it can reduced the 8k properly, I dont know it has PEQ or just EQ. Do you need to buy a dongle with PEQ to do this?
Cannabat
Cannabat
@kanett Thanks! I'm not familiar with the Hiby FC4 dongle, but a brief look suggests you'd need to do EQ in software (e.g. an app on your phone).

As for whether a PEQ or normal EQ would work for 8k specifically - I did listen to the F1 Pro with a 10-band non-parametric EQ. Lowering 8k a couple dB sounded very similar to what I did on the PEQ, despite the lack of a Q value. I mean, any difference was so minor that simply adjusting the fit of the IEMs would probably make a bigger difference than -3dB@8k on PEQ vs -3dB@8k EQ. The main thing is to just take the edge off that region - I think you'd be OK with any old EQ.

What you are describing is exactly what I heard when replacing the stock opamps in my Violectric V222 amp with Vivid V6 opamps. They simply elevated an already excellent headphone amp.

Now I am eagerly awaiting the Vivid V7s to hear how they stack up to the V6s...

500+ Head-Fier
Pros: - Deep and punchy bass, warm male vocals, intimate and smooth female vocals and a spicy yet non fatiguing treble
- Technical performance is definitely good for the price
- Build quality is very good
- The overall package is complete and contains a nice set of cable and accessories
Cons: - Sometimes they become a bit unnatural due to the added warmth, and the bass textures are not the best around
- The nozzle is on the bigger side and they benefit from a deep insertion, so the tips become crucial
- Design-wise, Kefine could have made these more unique looking, instead they look like the Klanar

500+ Head-Fier
Pros: Gorgeous looks – faceplate changes moods with light
High quality craftsmanship
Medium size - acceptable considering it is packed with 8 drivers
A charming warm-leaning balance
Bass feels like a warm hug
Vocals never feel lost in the mix
Fairly priced
Musicality is its forte
Very big-speaker-like presentation to my ears – easy to forget you're wearing them
Cons: Not a technical monster
Not for those searching for a neutral or bright set
Sparse accessories (but a decent stock cable IMO)
Long nozzle can be an issue for some
Not an off-the shelf product so expect a few weeks lead time to get yours
Note definition is not its strength

Nice work Nik,

I am in the process of ordering a set of Aurora, a decision helped by your earlier comments and this review. I think it will offer a nice counterpoint and change of pace to the Ascension, Neon Pro and my other sets that all tend towards degrees of V tuning and energetic sounding.
