The Studio Monitor
The Hisenior T2 the entry level IEM, Bought it for 70 usd at stock sales the normal price is now 95 usd at their own website. They have a neutral tuning which makes them perfect for Musicians, Stageworkers and for people who just want to do some home mixing and mastering. These are going in my backpack for now for stagework. I find it hard to be honest to look at them with Hifi eyes since that’s not really their use case or intended use case. I didn't listen to much music unless I made it myself or played it myself since they made for it.

The shells are made in Egger Allergy free resin. Just a simple plain black yes i know you can get custom versions of these like all of their models. The cable is an absolutely beautiful choice and puts other brands to shame of what kind of cables they give with their iem. Even the Tips were quite carefully picked at a bore size of 3.9mm. Then you have the pelican type of case you get. This is a real plus in my book. The overall package for what you get for your money is absolutely top notch. You feel from the get go that it’s made to last and not a throw away candy. Most iem’s you buy well the iem’s are worth keeping the other part are mostly e waste unfortunately.

Tonality: Well like I told you already their neutral as they can get it. The Knowles 2 BA’s (CI+ED) have a choice to really work together. You can also call them balanced to give the person an “uncolored” representation. How something is being played. That’s what a studio monitor his job is, Found best working for musicians that play Drum/Bass/Vocal/Guitar. Here are the building blocks to make a wonderful studio monitor. The only “con” I found is that female vocals might be slightly on the darker side. Male vocals were absolutely fine.

Bass: the bass shelf ain’t that big so if you love your bass it might be on the thinner side. but the texture and the attack and decay in the envelope is absolutely good since. didn't really find the “normal” BA timbre you can have at times. but there's still enough punch and more than bite to let you head bump on the music. Even though the graph looks flat in bass it really packs something.

Mids: since the tuning is balanced nor the treble and bass overpower. In this case the details from the Mids aren't lost and that is a must for a studio monitor. Those are where the most instruments sit. There clean you can say okay the bassist i have to turn that one down a little cuz it might over power the others. Here again an envelope of the instrument itself was very nice done. the coherence as well between the 2 drivers is well carefully done

Treble: no sibilance and no sharp edges. I still hear clearly higher tones from some instruments that can handle Violin is one of that group Cello is another. Even a guitar can go into high treble all depending on what snares you have on them and how it tunes. A classic snare set goes to around 4-5k tops in a D tuning. as soon as you go to the tinner bottom snairs your pitch goes up. The Treble is really fine even for treble sensitief people a studio monitor can work wonders. But the recording has to be good as well.

Soundstage: And for this I have to compare it to my older S215. So I have an apples to apples comparison and not apples to pears. The T2 just sweeps the floor with it in all aspects on the soundstage. Is far wider, has more depth, and even more play on you can tune a musician. lower their recording volume while pushing them also a little more back into the background so you can really have a wonderful recording. That feels open and doesn't go into the volume war that we had last decennia pushing everything louder and louder until everything is just filled with noise that is also where Sibelane can form. That while playback on most of the other playback.

Technicals: I found it really good what Hisenior has done with just 2 carefully selected BA’s. I can really pick out good recordings from bad recordings. can’t really tell much more to be honest. It was just well done.

But all said and done, can i recommend this IEM for anyone who does some music production or plays an instrument hell YES. even over S215 and my Dt 770 Pro. I'll add some tracks/songs that I will help make. Yes it’s rap and it’s in dutch but try to set that apart al try to put yourself in my shoes i’m trying to make the best of what the artist wanna bring. I’m gonna look to my library and see that not all hi-hats, kicks, snares but also some trumpet and some guitar (played by myself then in that case). They can work in some cases both as just a listening set as a studio monitor.

Hisenior T2 REVIEW
Pros: Well Balanced Tuning, Excellent Mids, Quality Stock Cable and Accessories, Very good for casual listening
Cons: Lack of Sub-bass, Average Soundstage, Highs are not shiny
Introduction: -

Hisenior is a Chinese audio company founded in 2015 and they specialize in handcrafted custom in-ear monitors for musicians, studio engineers and audiophiles. They mostly create multi-balanced armature earphones, as well as hybrid IEMs. Hisenior T2 is Hisenior's 2BA offering in the sub-$150 price range. Usually, it sells at $119.00, but on sale for an undetermined time for as low as $95.00 on the official website. Also, the custom version of T2 is selling for $115.00.

Specifications: -
  • Driver Configuration: 2 Balanced Armature (Knowles)
  • Crossover: 2-Way Passive Crossovers/Dual-Bores/2 Dampers
  • Impedance: 18Ω
  • Freq Response: 20Hz-20Khz
  • Sensitivity: 105dB/mW
Disclaimer: -

We are thankful to Hisenior for the discounted price for the IEM. We were also delighted with the opportunity to review it.

Packaging & Accessories: -

The T2 didn’t come in an official package, but with all the official accessories, which include T2 Classic in-ear monitor, 8Core Silver-plated OCC Upgrade Cable with 3.5mm Termination (Both MMCX & 2Pins 0.78mm options available, we chose 2Pins 0.78mm), Pelican Waterproof Protective Case, Clean Fiber Wiper, All Size Ear-Tips a pair each. What else do you want for that price?

IEM Build & Design: -

The T2 Classic has allergy-free resin shells and there is a smooth surface. As we had the option of getting a custom-designed faceplate, we received the IEM as we designed it, and it looks beautiful. It also feels very solid in the hands. The Universal one comes in dark translucent shells. Both versions have a text, “febos” in silver color.

Sound Analysis: -

graph (1).png

Credits: @aftersound
  • Lows: - Since the tonality of the IEM leans towards a bit of a warm balanced sound, the mid-bass presentation here has decent quantity and quality. On bass-heavy tracks with sources like Aune M1p and Dethonray dtr1 plus, T2 still manages to give quality-sounding lows. The bass texture is rendered smoothly. But the sub-bass depth is just average at best. Drum kicks felt lacking at times, especially on thump and punchiness.

  • Mids: - The mids are well-balanced with good tonality. We can easily say that the mids are the highlights of this IEM. Mids are a bit forwarded here, which makes it a fun-sounding set. Vocal-centric and instrumental tracks felt alive and rich sounding. We would here like to specially mention that songs with piano and violin in the backdrop sounded phenomenally well. We really like how the vocals (both male and female) are well-rendered here. Here we would also like to add that the mids sounded really well with the Aune m1p and Dethonray dtr1 plus daps .as both of these daps are analytical thus the synergy with the IEM was great.

  • Highs: - Highs on this IEM is average with the treble doesn’t extend so well and is not that airy. It does have a beautiful natural timbre and tonality which makes it an excellent IEM for everyday use, but it doesn’t give you that sparkling. The detailing is decent at this price point. The highs do improve a bit with a neutral source but weren’t that great with mobile phones.

  • Soundstage & Imaging: - The soundstage is average here with more focus on cohesiveness. Not that wide but still acceptable as we believe that cohesiveness has its own fun. It’s quite natural for BA staging. Imaging is above average for its price tag. It actually surprises us with imaging. Separation is quite average as it sounds okay with electronic and pop music tracks, but it struggles on complex tracks where lots of instruments are involved.

  • Synergy: - At Aural Café, we strongly believe that sources play a great role in extracting maximum juice from the IEMs and we would like to advise the newcomers in this hobby to get a good source if you really want to enjoy the music in its Hi-Fi form, keeping all these things in mind, we recommend a DAP which is neutral and analytical in its presentation to go with Hisenior T2 and we are saying it after testing it with numerous daps in our table. We believe that, since the Hisenior T2 has a warm tonality, it merges really well with a neutral DAP. The mid-bass especially really improves with a good source. As of our experience, this IEM really has good synergy with Aune M1p, Dethonray dtr1 Plus and when it comes in a dongle it sounds really fun with Tanchjim Space.

Pro-Capture One 00066.jpg

Conclusion: -

This IEM is very capable set at the given price point of $119.00 and justifies even greater value at the Sale price. For everyday use, it does not create any kind of fatigue during longer sessions. The accessories given are top-notch. The Pelican protective case itself cannot be found in any IEM at this range. It admirably delivers well-balanced tuning. Isolation is one of the best if not the best at that price. Overall, we liked the set for its warm and fun tonality and timbre. For users who like wide soundstage with neutral tonality, we would not recommend this IEM. If anyone is willing to purchase, it is available for purchase through the official website of Hisenior.

Hisenior T2 Classic
Pros: Nice looking build
Lively mids
Well textured bass
Cons: Lacking some "sparkles" microdetails
Subbass rumble is not that great
Hisenior T2 Classic

Specification
:

Driver: All BA set up (Knowles) 1 for the low-mid, 1 for the highs
Impedance: 18 ohms
Sensitivity: 105db
FR range: 20hz-20khz

Source Used:
Acoustic Research AR-M200
XDuoo X3 (CS4398)
Realme 6 paired with externa DAC ( Avani, Abigail, JCally JA21)
Foobar2000
Tidal, Spotify,Qobuz, & Apple Music
(MP3 320kbps, FLAC 16bit,FLAC 24bit,WAV,DSD256)

Build:
The hisenior T2 classic shells is made of “Egger” allergy free resin. It has a glossy finish with a good shape which perfectly fit in my medium size ear. It has the dark translucent shells and on the faceplate side has a cursive text of “Febos” with a nice silver font color. It also uses a female mmcx connector as not commonly seen in most of the iems nowadays which im a fan of.

Sound Quality:

Lows: Bass has a good amount and of quantity and presentation, I enjoy listening to EDM tracks but somehow lacking on impact. Subbass has a decent rumble and has a average extension just like the other typical BA drivers. Overall I still enjoy listening to some electronic music such as bigroom, electro-house, drum and bass and also dubstep.

Mids: Mids are all good, it is slightly forward and it also sounds natural which brings the strength of this iem. Vocals and instruments sounded fine and not colored. The transparency of mids will give excitement when listening to Live sets, from acoustic guitar plucking to electric guitar shredding.

Treble: Treble doesn’t extend well and can be good or bad depending on the preffered genre of the user. It doesn’t give a piercing sound and doesn’t give that sparkling treble that some users will be looking into a BA drivers set-up. I don’t recommend this if your looking for analytical + detailed sounding IEM. If you’re a fan of relaxed treble then you are not having a problem with this IEM.

Soundstage & Imaging:

Soundstage has a average height and depth for an IEM, even tho slightly lacking for microdetails and sparkles, it can still manage to deliver a natural and almost uncolored sound.

Conclusion:

Its been a pleasure trying these Hisenior IEMs. Still, I was amazed on how they tune these BA drivers to deliver a natural and yet enjoyable sound. I’d recommend getting a pair of Hisenior IEM if there is a chance. It gave me a new sound experience that the audiophiles should try to.
