Zune Line Out
Finally got a zune 120 for my car and now the soundgate kick is nowhere to be found on ebay. Totally not paying $65 for it on amazon. Anyone know where I can find it for ~$30 now? I'm guessing there are still no other good solutions for powered line out.- blynch1

Zune Line Out
Considering getting a zune 80 for in car use. Ideally, I need a car charger with line-out to connect to aux-in on my stereo. As listed above, soundgate makes an adapter, but it is fairly expensive ($60). I am wondering if anyone knows if the DLO transdock micro...- blynch1

Interconnect for EM-U 0404 to Starving Student tube Amp

Interconnect for EM-U 0404 to Starving Student tube Amp
thanks for the info, one problem though. I need 1/4" to RCA (SS has RCA inputs). And the link you gave is for 1/4-1/4 cables. I didn't see Hosa TRS cables in 1/4" to RCA. -
EMU 0404 USB is killing frame per second :( need help
Not sure if this would work, but you could disconnect the EMU and feed it sound from your onboard soundcard via S/PDIF. (if you have the thinkpad dock there is an RCA jack for SPDIF out on it) Not exactly a pretty fix, but would take the load off your cpu and still give you the good dac in...- blynch1

are sweatwaters Pro Co cables worth the extra price? $16 compared to $5-7 for the Hosa models. -
Interconnect for EM-U 0404 to Starving Student tube Amp
I'm currently connected from the 3.5 main out to a RCA y adapter. I guessing I would get better sound quality out of the 1/4" outputs. What interconnect should I get? Would either of these be fine? Hosa CPR201 | Sweetwater.com Hosa CPR-403 Dual Audio Interconnect | Sweetwater.com- blynch1

Millett "Starving Student" hybrid amp
Thanks for the simple explanation. I know how capacitors work so I got the power reserve part. But I did not get how the tiny film cap would make a difference. Nice to know electrolytics are slow and films fast, makes sense now. I've put a few hours of listening on this and it sounds good...- blynch1

Millett "Starving Student" hybrid amp
Would high-quality resistors have any real world effect at the inputs? If not I'll just pick up whatever radio shack has instead of paying $5 shipping and waiting for a mouser order.- blynch1

Millett "Starving Student" hybrid amp
Finished mine tonight. This is my first diy and I am pleasantly surprised with how well it went. Case work was a pita, but it worked perfectly on first power up (minus needing to switch out a dead tube, good thing I ordered an extra). I can only turn the volume knob ~5% to keep it in usable...- blynch1

Millett "Starving Student" hybrid amp
Anywhere have the tubes+sockets in stock? I've emailed about 8 places with no luck. -Also is there a good beginner guide to point to point soldering, I've watched most of the tutorials on tangent's site but that focuses mainly on pcb stuff.- blynch1

Millett "Starving Student" hybrid amp
It looks like all you guys bought every 19J6 tube. radiodaze and vacuumtube.net are out of stock. I've got every other part on order, just short tubes. May have to pick them up off ebay, kinda pricey and I don't see sockets either. Anyone have a 4 tubes+sockets sitting around they would like...- blynch1

Millett "Starving Student" hybrid amp
Don't see anymore of the cisco ps on ebay. Best price I can find is like 15 used shipped in the US. Anyone know a cheaper place to buy? I think I'll go with vacuumtube.net for the tubes they have them in stock for $4+shipping, so if you know a cheaper place for tubes let me know that as well.- blynch1

Millett "Starving Student" hybrid amp
I'm looking at making one of these for my first DIY projects. I will be using this with denon D2000 and grado sr225, so are there any parts I should switch out to to optimize for either of these cans? I am starting with the stock BOM ordering from mouser. Help pick first project: Amp for D2000
I'd definately like for the bottom end to get a bit more power. So it looks like I will have to toss a coin between the SOHA and the millet and hope I'm not biting off more than I can chew- blynch1

Help pick first project: Amp for D2000
Thats interesting I figured the SS hybrid would be easier than the SOHA II, becuase it looked to have fewer components. So going either SOHAII or MMax I would not be biting off more than I can chew as a first timer?- blynch1

Help pick first project: Amp for D2000
I am currently running D2000 off e-mu 0404. I'm looking to build a dedicated amp that will significantly improve over the 0404's built in amp. So a cmoy is likely out of the question. What I've been looking at are the SS hybrid, millet max hybrid, and the SOHA II. It looks like the starving...- blynch1

Getting clean output from USB soundcard and/or laptop: my experiences
I swear I was hearing the noise at full volume, but I just checked now and there is nothing-so I guess I don't need extra shielding. I'm pretty happy with the emu. The headphone jack is quite good and is definately acceptable till I get a dedicated amp. I went from getting terrible listening...- blynch1

Getting clean output from USB soundcard and/or laptop: my experiences
Got my 0404 today, tried to tape off those grounds but it did not work. When I tape off the outside of the usb plug on the emu's end the computer no longer detects it. I could cover up pin 4 but that made no detectable difference. I guess it is no big deal, as the static is heard only with the...- blynch1

Anyone have experience running this with Emu 0404 and D2000, and if so how did is sound compared to running it off the Emu's built in amp? Also how does the I+ compare to a decent starving student hybrid?- blynch1
