    Eversolo DMP-A6 Network Streamer/DAC

Concur. My system setup currently uses a digital DSP for room correction EQ. There are Android EQ apps which, if one could be loaded into A6, would eliminate the need for that DSP. So my question: could such a 3rd party app be loaded into and used by the A6? Thanks in advance.

Comment by 'MGbert' in item 'QKZ Audio QKZ x HBB'

I just got both the QKZ x HBB and the Salnotes Zero. While I like the sonics of the QKZ a bit more than the Zero, I am really annoyed that the cable keeps spontaneously detaching from the QKZ bodies. Is this a defect with mine or is it a common occurrence? The cable on the Salnotes seems to stay...

[FiiO M6] Portable High-Resolution Lossless Music Player,Embracing A Wireless Future

Sorry to resurrect an old post, but I have a similar issue. I have a Topping D70 DAC, and the M6 USB out plays just fine with it. But I have another older unit with no USB in, but optical and COAX digital inputs. Does anyone know of a USB to optical and/or Coaxial decoder that will work? I...

    Hifiman he-400i Impressions and Discussion

All good questions and points. Last first - FOOBAR has a level trim that automatically reduces the overall level by the maximum boost in any of the 31 frequencies being altered, so no clipping. At your risk, you can play with that level of cut, which I do, but I keep it so the peak levels are...

    Hifiman he-400i Impressions and Discussion

Sorry I'm late to the party. I used the Harman curve as a target on the FOOBAR EQ gadget. That has way more than 10 bands, so I'll simplify. Gradually raise the level of the bass from 160HZ (+1 dB) to a max of +8 dB at 40 Hz. Keep flat (0 dB) from 200 Hz to 1000 Hz, then ramp up to +4 dB at...

GUSTARD H10 High-current Discrete Class A output Stage Headphone Amplifier

No sound after I did it with power on.  Thought I blew something in the amp.  Cycled off then on, and sound restored.  The fact that mine came with no manual of any description meant I had no warning about that.  Darn near caused a heart attack!

Happy as a Pig in Schiit: Introducing Modi Multibit

Hmmm... is this the first time you played the particular selections through that system?  Could be that the recording(s) have particular synergy with the system.   Or it could just be that the one hour deadline for listening time made the sound that much more delectable.  Although the...

GUSTARD H10 High-current Discrete Class A output Stage Headphone Amplifier

For Christmas, I bought my girlfriend a pair of V-Moda Crossfade M100s and a FiiO E10K USB DAC/Amp dongle to use with it.  I just auditioned the Fiio with the HiFiMan HE-400i's and it does a VERY respectable job as DAC feeding my stock Gustard H10 compared to my Parasound zDAC - as in 95-98%...

    Hifiman he-400i Impressions and Discussion

Maybe, but with one big proviso:  the amp output impedence can't be too high relative to the 400i.  I recently got a Gustard H10 with an output impedence < 1 ohm, and I'm feeding it with a Parasound zDAC.  The zDAC also has a HP amp, but its output impedence is 10 ohms.  As a result, the bass on...

GUSTARD H10 High-current Discrete Class A output Stage Headphone Amplifier

Seriously off topic, but someone on the Planar Speaker Asylum website once posted that he attempted to use channels of salt water to replace speaker cables!  So at least snakes are self-contained... ;-)  His one comment on the efficacy of the salt water channels was "Don't ask..."   Back on...

Official NYC Fall 2015 Regional Meet Impressions

Hi, VERY late checking in, this was my first Head-Fi meet ever and found it very enjoyable.  Thank you to all the organizers and participants for making me feel so welcome.  I was the guy with DaveDerek, who finally convinced me to come after all these years.  ;-)    I'll admit I'm not sure...

Official NYC area / Regional Fall meet, November 14th, 2015 - Stamford Sheraton

I'll be there!  This will be my first meet, and looking forward to it.  I plan to bring along my pair of AKG K612s and my vintage AKG K240s from 1979.  I know, not SOTA by any means although the K612s punch well at their price point.   MGbert

    AKG K601 & K612 Pro Owners... UNITE!!

BTW, the zDAC delivers sufficient volume out of the K612s, but the volume does need to be set around 2:00 or 3:00.  This combo will not allow you to go deaf, or let the K612s create magic smoke.

    AKG K601 & K612 Pro Owners... UNITE!!

I've had my K612s for a few months now.  Using with a Win 8.1 laptop running Foobar2000, USB out to a Parasound zDAC driving the K612.  Was not fully satisfied with the bass at first; thought it was rounding transients.  But then, with the GoldenEars data above, I put the following EQ settings...

Tascam TH-02 - Headphones waiting to be discovered??? (now Appreciation Thread)

With all the discussion of modding these CT-H02s, I'm surprised no one mentioned this:   The rear caps are easy to remove by prying them off, exposing the back of the driver and the wires.  So you want to be careful not to disturb these.  But try listening to them with the end cap off.  This...

John, thanks for the great review. I'm curious, though - how does the HE-400 do when amped by the Grant FidelityTubeDAC-11?

The concept of sound stage - having it and having it right.

Quote:    So true.  Also, differences in frequency response between the left and right earpiece can easily muck up the perceived soundstage.  There were several records issued in the 1960's which were recorded in a final mono mix, but were "artificially enhanced" for stereo by passing the...

    Boiling Sony Hybrid Tips

I use Sony's Hybrid tips on my ADDIEMs and love them. However, they have started coming off in my ear when I removed the IEMs. I read about a trick to rejeuvenate turntable rubber belts by boiling them, so I figured "why not?" Worked like a charm! Got the water boiling, left them in for a...

    CX95 vs CX500 vs NU-8

@Doomlord: Hope you like the CX-95's. My take is that the sound quality is fine for a mid-priced phone, but the "corkscrew" design of the earpiece's strain relief somehow prevents me from getting or maintaining a good seal when the cable is hanging down, which is how the phones are designed...

    Phonak Audeo?

Just wondering... I looked all over the Phonak website (ot thought I did) and found no clue about the "SAVE10" code. I'm grateful that someone posted it here, but I feel a bit like a dunce. How did you guys find out about it?
