    Dali Zensor 1

I got a pair of Zensor Pico's for a friend, I've had a pair of LS50's here too (now sold), using the same Sony ES Amp with the Pico as i did with the LS50's, i've set the Picos up carefully, and they've been running for a few days, while obviously they don't plum the depths of bass, but i...

Asus Essence One Headphone Amp/DAC (CeBIT 2011)

Quote: I have the latest driver installed that seem to be fine via USB. Apart from one or two little niggles (lack of digital inputs, high gain) this is good Dac, for the price the quality is superb, it's got it own character but its very enjoyable via the monitors and excellent with...

DacMagic Plus into DacMagic into Novo headphone amp

You could have simplified a bit more and bought an Asus essence One instead of the Dacmagic Plus, great little headphone amp on the Asus. Both Dacs work great into actives however, different character between the two but both very good.

    DACMagic Plus Impressions

Dacmagic (version without volume control) yes it sounds fine via the USB but is limited to 16/44. Ive always used mine with the USB to SPDIF though which isolates from any ground loops from the PC which is on a different circuit.   Dacmagic Plus, you wont need a USB to SPDIF converter with...

Asus Essence One Headphone Amp/DAC (CeBIT 2011)

Quote: Hi Lee thanks for your input, look forward to your further experience with the Dac. Obviously your comparing it to the Stello Eximus which is an unknown quantity to most people at the moment. Can you say how it compares to other Dacs/headphone amps you've tried, budget or...

    DACMagic Plus Impressions

Quote: 1. It is a switch mode power supply on the Dacmagic Plus, Of course the Words printed on the back of the power supply "Switch Mode Power Supply" could simply be a spelling mistake.   2. Its is 12V DC, not AC.   3. The rectifiers, heat, sinks and caps have gone AWOL in this...

    Cambridge DACMagic, anyone? (THREAD II)

Ive had both the BM Dac Pre and the Dacmagic, the Dacmagic is more than a match for the BM Dac SQ wise if running both through the balance outputs, to my ears and in my system the Dacmagic actually sounded a bit bigger soundstage wise and a bit more dynamic than the Benchmark (im running a...

    Valab Dac-First Impressions

Quote: Gordon Rankin has commented that the C-Media USB controller in the TeraDak TeraLink-X (the same CM108 used in the TeraDak/Valab DAC) has very high jitter in his testing. It's also the same chip used in the Cambridge DacMagic that Stereophile's John Atkinson labeled its USB as...

More or less the opposite of the HD650

HD800 - Is sibilance an issue with your set-up?

Quote: Mr. Willett, please listen carefully to the HD800 when you finally actually get production samples. Keep in mind that your credibility here will be greatly enhanced if you hear at least some of the problems or issues discussed by others, and you will have no credibility whatsoever if...

HD800 - Is sibilance an issue with your set-up?

I think the two Johns, John 53 and John Willets are getting close to explaining what Skylab and a few others are hearing. Rock and pop albums are mastered to be heard on unrevealing equipment, or at least equipment that has some voicing or colouration built in, where as music that is less...

How well does your high-end full sized can stand up to loudspeakers?

Quote: the speaker has nothing to do with how the room will handle bass... Er... well they're not actually speakers, amps with built in room correction, so they eliminate a lot of the bass issues with most rooms. In fact it is in some ways very much like listening to headphones...

How well does your high-end full sized can stand up to loudspeakers?

Quote: Detail retrieval and bass control are where headphones win, imo. You can never eliminate standing waves completely in a room, can you? Youve never heard a Lyngdorf Millennium or TDA 2200 then

    Graham Slee's Solo SRG w/ PSU1

The solo seemed to match the HD 650 very well, i didnt try it with other headphones, mine wasn't new, so it was already run in and sounding its best. Just give it sometime, my experience of it was a very neutral sound with wide soundstage, it was excellent, but in the end i preferred the slight...

    Graham Slee's Solo SRG w/ PSU1

Quote: hughwi However, I am slightly dissapointed that there is not much of a discernable difference between it and the pico DAC/amp I have been using! (I guess this is down to the fact that the Beresford is holding it back?). I can understand where your coming from...

How well does your high-end full sized can stand up to loudspeakers?

I think headphones are exceptional way to experience highend sound for very little real outlay. I think some audiophiles would be totally astonished by the sound (or should this be music!) produced by some headphones, and how close they get to the original recording. Not to mention being able...

Can anyone help me identify this track please?(Icelandic Jazz?)

Hi has anyone got a clue what track is? Starts with a modal riff type thing, rather lovely, (reminds me a a bit of Donald Byrd) and ends with someone singing who sounds a bit like Stina Nordenstam, anyone any ideas? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lI1g0...e=channel_page This is what they...

Can u drive the senns 650 with a portable amp?

I have a HD650, I had the Slee Solo amp and (still) have the Ibasso P2, I prefered the P2 (a portable amp) with the HD 650, the sound stage didnt quite have the width of of the Solo and it wasn't as open, but for my ears the P2 sounded more dynamic and more natural with HD 650, to me the Solo...
