I have a C&C XO that I use with CK7. I have to say, CK7 responds well with an amp. The bass response increases greatly when you amp it, I would definitely say amping is worth it.

Btw, can anyone enlighten me why "detachable cable" is an issue? Pretty much 90% of iems out there don't have these, so why exactly are Freqs supposed to have them?

I'd go for D2000 as well. It's just as good as HD600, but it is much easier to drive, and it scales up quite well when you get a good amp. Also, it's closed, so you might consider that as a plus.
