I have always wanted a great private home listening experience. Up until now I have used IEMs almost exclusively since I usually listen on the go. I have finally purchased a home and have some funds to make this happen. I will be listening to the cans from my Denon receiver which has plenty of power for high impedance cans. I listen to an eclectic collection of genres (old rock, newer rock, pop, even country). I like a well balanced sound (not to bright or dark). I am looking for clarity and separation. My budget is $300. Whcih of these should I get?

Sennhesier HD595 $180
Sennhesier HD600 $277

AKG K701 $274

Beyer DT-770 $269
Beyer DT-880 $299
Beyer DT-990 $290

Audio Technica ATH-A900 $249

Or should I splurge?

Denon AHD2000 $340

Let me know if there are any that you think I should add to the list.

THANKS!

DT880, K701 and HD600 are the most balanced cans out of your list IMO. The DT770 and 990 aren’t actually what I’d call neutral.

I'd go for D2000 as well.

It's just as good as HD600, but it is much easier to drive, and it scales up quite well when you get a good amp. Also, it's closed, so you might consider that as a plus.

Do you love your Mylarones, by the way? You might be more on the Sennheiser / Denon side then, actually. But I never heard the Denons personally and my DT880 didn’t arrive yet either, so this is just a guess. The Beyers would be a little bit more analytical, while the X3i isn’t really like that IMO.
