Just another part of the firmware that they can't be bothered to finish, now that they have a shiny new toy to distract them. I doubt I'll buy another DAP from FiiO. I doubt also that I'll ever recommend that anyone else do so.

That's exactly how I do it.

My tags are perfectly organized. The only entriy in the Album Artist fields is 'various', where it's appropriate. Foobar works much better this way. I've had an iPod classic for years. The SQ sucks but the GUI is pretty damned good. Its randomization is a sad joke, also.

As long as it's an OPTION, as I have no desire to go through 22,000 files to enter data into the Album Artist tab.   And yes, anyone with more than 8 GB of files is going to have to stick with the folder option for God knows how long because it's become pretty obvious that FiiO just doesn't...

All distortion consists of the mathematical superposition of unwanted frequencies upon the frequencies present at the input. The causes may be very different but that's the result.

You'd hope that they'd try to get the remaining serious problems with the Mk I version dealt with first. Otherwise, they're not likely to ever fix them just to force people to the MkII.

No, but I'm pretty sure I've noticed one with the Vsonic GR07's that I bought at the same time. They don't need any EQ to deal with the sibilance now.

Were you putting all of your files in the root of the card? There's a hard limit of 400 files in the root of almost any storage medium.
