Next DIY project: PPA or Gilmore V2 ?
My Gilmore sounds wonderful with my 600's. It cost me around $600 to build because I spared no expense (and made a few boo-boos).- Ben_Tech

Tool Time! (NOT brought to you by Binford, lol)
THIS jig with a good plunge router will give far more perfect circles than anything discussed so far...I've built a lot of speakers even in the <2k in raw parts range. However, for squares, ignore me. Edit again: I used a power jigsaw every day when I was eleven+ ..... *shrug* never had...- Ben_Tech

Power conditioner or new Power cord
Good point. I could make 4' cords myself for $15.71 (plus shipping ) each with Schurter 4781.0100 and Pass & Seymour 5266-X from Newark. http://www.audiotweaks.com/diy/bobcrump_pc/page01.htm -
Power conditioner or new Power cord
I was under the impression THIS was pretty darn good for well under $100? -
Gilmore Dynamic Troubles
I lowered my DC from 50-90mv to >5mv by matching the LED's better and then replacing the servo opamps with brand new ones.- Ben_Tech

Power conditioner or new Power cord
Pretty sure Mark is referring to his source. Too bad my source has a molded cord, and I don't feel like Dremel'ing it. -
Pioneer DV-563A..almost here! Will it be worth the wait?
Quote: Originally posted by Hiker Yes I know it plays DVD-A. Let me clear that up: I wonder how this stacks up against the Philips 963SA despite the fact that the Philips lacks DVD-A. My bad. I thought the Phillips played DVD-A also...just checked again, and it does not! I suppose...- Ben_Tech

Obscure 'giant-killer' interconnect cables?

Obscure 'giant-killer' interconnect cables?
Anyone have any opinions on the cables from Heartland cables? Specifically, the interconnects they offer with the new bullet plugs: http://www.heartlandcables.com/ .... They are priced fairly close to the cost of the materials that go into them, unlike most. Another possibility...- Ben_Tech

Gilmore output resistor question
I can't answer your question, but I would probably go for these instead, and get the correct value: http://www.partsconnexion.com/catalo.../sheet021.html (Use the arrow and go all the way to the right to the 'VISHAY-Draloric' tab)- Ben_Tech

Good eye. Thanks. Note: I have dropped this project for now, I am enjoying my Gilmore too much to build more atm. Anyone that wants the .pcb file to play with just PM me with an email. (Though I'll warn you, getting small lots made is outragously expensive!)- Ben_Tech

I know this is a headphone amp forum, but....
I think that is just a loudspeaker amp. And they don't have the matching SACD player.... Might be something nice for AKG K1000s.- Ben_Tech

Amp for Sennheiser HD600. Prefer to stay with something headroom sells. Suggestions?
Quote: Originally posted by Born2bwire Just out of curiosity, how does the Gilmore pair with HD600 (if anyone is willing to increase their post count and excuse my laziness)? Sure. My high-end DIY Gilmore rocks hard with the Senn HD600. Deep, tight bass, wonderful detail...- Ben_Tech

All new mini power supply layout based on the Gilmore Dynamic amplifier project PS
I have been working on the following compact power supply layout. The size is 2.5" x 3.8". Please comment, especially if there is a problem with the layout. I consider this to be the 'Alpha' version. The parts list would be as follows: (2) Digikey# OPA548T IC POWER OPAMP...- Ben_Tech

A really sucessful story.
This reminded me of these.... http://www.lcaudio.dk/com/zp2.htm ....an amp made out of a pair of those would be interesting..and, of course, a heck of a lot less than $1800. Maybe with some K1000's....- Ben_Tech

The *Best* kit/premade power supply for a Gilmore Dynamic Balanced Bridge Amp?(links)
Neat. I will look forward to your observations on that. Back to power supplies.... On the Justin Wilson Gilmore PS board (below) there are pads for a pair of bridge rectifiers...is it possible to substitute Schottky diodes for these? I am fairly clueless as to how that might work. Would I...- Ben_Tech
