iFi Audio Asks... What (Product) Should We Make Next?
This is pretty interesting. Especially if they nail getting Qobuz and Tidal as well. Think a non-android DAP, probably Linux based, with Tidal and Qobuz and other services, offline-playign as well, DLNA, plus SD Cards and Coax/Spidf outs and the Ifi digital mojo. They already do this with the...- Khronos

Looking for a new TOTL headphone
John Massaria will tune the headphones he makes to your liking. https://www.jmaudioeditions.com/ The Hedd 2 is neutral and has exquisite microdynamics. I want to say the RAAL CA1A are warm, but they require special amps. In my experience the ZMFs are neutral warm, the soulful kind. Their...- Khronos

HiBy RS2: dual card slots, Darwin R2R, FIR, NOS, MQA 8x--news and impressions thread
Yes. That's what I'd figured out. The phone must provide a 5V handshake to the Hiby before they can connect. At least for me, since I use the RS2 on the go it would be too much of a clunky solution. However, I'm glad you found a way to somewhat-universally have it work with Android phones...- Khronos

HiBy RS2: dual card slots, Darwin R2R, FIR, NOS, MQA 8x--news and impressions thread
Yeouch. I almost pulled the trigger on both the Zenfone 10 and/or the Xperia 5 V (because of the Head-Fi thread). So thankful the Samsung worked, I've had the RS2 for a year so it's got emotional value. Kudos that your RAZR+ worked!- Khronos

HiBy RS2: dual card slots, Darwin R2R, FIR, NOS, MQA 8x--news and impressions thread
I think the phone must have reverse USB charging to handshake the RS2. Both the Velvet and the S23FE seem to have it. I thought perhaps the pinout that allows the OP11 and the Thinkphone to have ridiculously quick charging (100W and 67W respectively vs 25W and 18W for the S23FE and the Velvet)...- Khronos

Good Luck. I tried a Motorola Thinkphone and a Oneplus 11 and they didn't work. Perhaps the RS2 might not be the best option for you. I might even advice against it.- Khronos

HiBy RS2: dual card slots, Darwin R2R, FIR, NOS, MQA 8x--news and impressions thread
The former. I can route the S23FE's audio through USB and use RS2 as a DAC. I can copy the files from the RS2 into the phone if I ever need to stream my CD rips. For the most part, though, I'm happy this arrangement worked out in the end. I was ready to snag an old LG if this one didn't output...- Khronos

Trying a Samsung Galaxy S23FE It works. connect the RS2 and shift USB control to it. I'm leaving this as a future reference for head-fiers. Thanks Samsung.- Khronos

HiBy RS2: dual card slots, Darwin R2R, FIR, NOS, MQA 8x--news and impressions thread
Greetings. Apologies for derailing the thread. Those connecting their RS2s to their smartphones, what phones do you have? My LG Velvet is in its twilight and I have been frantically looking for something that's not 3+ years old. So far, I've tried the Oneplus 11 and the Lenovo Thinkphone and...- Khronos

Kennerton LSA HP2
I have. These particular cans had, at least to my ears a problem with resonance. It made them dry and their sound, although pleasing, did not fulfill my expectations. John Massaria's mod fixed this. His mod has taken the execution of the headphones as far as it can be done. They are now...- Khronos

Flux Lab Acoustics Dual Mono Headphone Amplifier, VOLOT - Mythical Giant or Giant Killer ? News, Speculation, Impressions, reviews and discussion
That's gorgeous. The actual amplifying element seems to be small, the capacitors alone being larger. Guess that implies this beast will be a monster at wrangling out dynamics off headphones. And class A! This would probably be damn amazing at driving speakers if only it had speaker taps.- Khronos

Flux Lab Acoustics Dual Mono Headphone Amplifier, VOLOT - Mythical Giant or Giant Killer ? News, Speculation, Impressions, reviews and discussion
I believe someone mentioned on Reddit this would have about 40 watts at the output, enough to drive Susvara to full potential but don't quote me, instead, ask FLA. The fact the looks somewhat match with the upcoming PowerDAC R from the Dutch ECDesigns might be fate...- Khronos

Introducing Shanling M30 - Modular Desktop Hi-Fi Streaming Player
Snapdragon 430, off-the-shelf DAC, op-amp based amplifier, Android that's nearly half a decade old, only 32GB ROM... The modularity is pretty good, and while I'm all for it, at the price of $3600 it's quite ridiculous. Form-factor wise there's QLS, which are known for near-optimal DAC...- Khronos

Schiit Happened: The Story of the World's Most Improbable Start-Up
Yes, that might be an inherent problem with the PowerDAC given that volume control is done by regulating the power supply. I won't comment further on that given that it is still in the prototype stage. E1DA already has the former on the works for headphones through his proprietary POWERDAC...- Khronos

Reply to review by 'Khronos' on item 'HIFIMAN HE-R10P Planar Headphones'
1: Can these do the holographic delivery of images the Susvara is capable of with top gear? 2: Seems like Hifiman has eschewed durability in order to sell their Bluetooth module with these. They are well known for fragile inner wiring and fragile headbands, meaning these might have a headband...- Khronos

Schiit Happened: The Story of the World's Most Improbable Start-Up
I believe it is a servo-loaded (in that the input signal is galvanically isolated from the power stage) power-driven (pass-labs iteration of PowerDrive, that is, current-drive amplifier. Similar in a way to Schiit's Continuity, I believe) power supply for speakers. In my honest opinion, it is...- Khronos
