We have our Siemens (which is Bosch) dishwasher for 10 years now. We moved 3 times in that period, and the thing survived that all and is still doing its work without signs of aging.

And if that is all too complicated, just type an "e" behind the first letter instead of an Umlaut. Like ae instead of ä, oe instead of ö, ue instead of ü. Looks definitely less German, but works.

Since a few months we even have the first beer brewery of the UAE right here in Abu Dhabi. They have a bar/restaurant at the same place. Quite cool to see the stainless steel vessels from where you are eating/drinking (certainly when you realize that you are actually in the UAE). 13 different...

Even here in the United Arab Emirates mail ordering liquor is now possible. They have age verification through you ID card at delivery. But when they had to wait too long at my door for me to return home from work, they just left it there and went home.

Vali 3 as pre is not going to work, I have nothing to feed it. As I have the multibit DAC card in my Jot, it will have to be Jot as pre, Vali 3 as power amp. If Jot 2 as pre amp has 2V output, it would match any amp input I would assume.

I never had interest in tubes either. But this little cute Vali 3 made me think, why not try just for fun? Would the Jotunheim 2 pre-amp output match the Vali 3 input values? I don't want to buy a separate DAC, but if I only have to buy the Vali 3 to compare with my solid state Jotunheim, it's...

Having a good day. One annoyance few days back. The clip of my Diplomat Aero broke off. Why am I still happy? Well, I emailed Diplomat customer service to ask for the agency in the UAE. There isn't any, they replied. But.....they will send me a new cap free of charge, so I don't even have to...

Looks absolutely gorgeous. Your info will put that valley certainly on my list of places to retire. Northern Italy was very high on the list anyway, for the reasons you mentioned, people, area, food. Whether the culture is compatible with me, that is something that I still have to find out. I...

Schiit Happened: The Story of the World's Most Improbable Start-Up

If I had to choose between Bavaria or northern Italy, the choice wouldn't be difficult. To further narrow it down, my choice would be Val D'Aosta. Purely based on beauty of the landscapes, hiking options, food, etc. I don't know how practical or unpractical it is to live in that corner. If my...

Yeah now and then I try to be nice. Initially I wanted to add, that in my view neoclassical is classical-ish. Having said that, there is a wide variety in musical tastes, so there is a place for neoclassical (albeit not in my listening sessions).

Kaija Saariaho is contemporary classical music indeed, very much so. Ludovico Einaudi and Max Richter however belong to what is called neoclassical. Although written for essentially the same classical music instruments and ensembles, contemporary classical and neoclassical are not the same.

Listening to it now, and I really love the performance of both concertos. My up till now favorite performances by Shlomo Mintz have to accept second place now. Mixed feelings about the Dance of the Knights. That has nothing to do with the performance. But......Prokofiev deliberately made this...

Thanks for the tip. Martha Argerich has also played parts of Romeo and Juliet for four hands, not sure if that was with the same partner. Anyway, Argerich is always interesting. I love for example Janacek violin sonatas played by her and Gidon Kremer.

I see that both violin concertos are on this album too. I love both (with a preference for number 1). I will certainly play this album today. I don't know Prokofiev's Cinderella, but I do love both Romeo and Juliet and The Love for Three Oranges, so these are welcome extras.
